Hmmm... No windows for me...
My GPU specs are in http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/products/pro ... id=3104#sp
your card is faster then mine, your score should be above 30 in cinebench
No, 9800GT in OS X gets lower scores. GTX 275 barely gets above 30fps(31.5fps if overclocked) and it's much faster.

and yet, your core frequency is 10% higher then mine
so is the shader clocks
if i'm at 29.35 (under snow leopard) your score should be more then 30

Yes, my opengl score is higher(it's not really affected by cpu). As I said it's 31.5fps right now with 10.6.4(used to be 32-something though). But 9800GTX is much slower.

i installed 10.6.4 and when it restarted it took forever to load and then the cursor was moving but i can't click on anything and if i go to the low part of the screen the dock doesn't show up, tried booting with iboot and its the same, anyone else with this problem?

Got my audio fixed for the GA P55A-UD4P. I have edited the DSDT with the following entry for the audio.

Device (HDEF)
{
Name (_ADR, 0x001B0000)
Method (_PRW, 0, NotSerialized)
{
Return (Package (0x02)
{

0x05
})
}

Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized)
{
Store (Package (0x08)
{
"codec-id",
Buffer (0x04)
{
0x89, 0x08, 0xEC, 0x10
},

"layout-id",
Buffer (0x04)
{
0x79, 0x03, 0x00, 0x00
},

"device-type",
Buffer (0x0F)
{
"Realtek ALC889"
},

"PinConfigurations",
Buffer (0x28)
{
/* 0000 */ 0x10, 0x90, 0xA0, 0x90, 0x20, 0x90, 0xA1, 0x02,
/* 0008 */ 0x80, 0x30, 0x81, 0x01, 0x90, 0x40, 0x21, 0x02,

}
}, Local0)
DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0))
Return (Local0)
}
}

Then used mulitbeast 2.0 to install the audio kext 10.6.2 Rollback along with the user DSDT.

Everything is working great now.

GA P55A-UD4P, i7 860, 4GB Corsair, WD 1TB, Geforce 9800 GT 1GB, 24" BenQ 1080p.
The DSDT in the Database already has the necessary audio edits. Also, you added in more than what is required for Legacy889HDA and audio rollback to work.

My cinebench and geekbench scores also went down. :| OpenGL is also less than 4...
Anyone know what about the 10.6.4 update is causing this?
Steam even posted a notice to mac users at:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... ?t=1314406

So clearly this is a widespread issue... maybe we'll get a fix with 10.6.5?

Hi -

Just updated to 10.6.4 (via software update.) Audio stopped working but I installed AppleHDA 10.6.2 and all is well.

Thanks everyone for making OS X so painless on my PC!

As Tony can confirm, I have a bizarre system. I was running 10.6.2 with no problems. 10.6.3 killed it, as did 10.6.4. I'm tracking down the weirdness. I think it's all related to my MSI N250GTS 1G Twin Frozr.

Each MultiBeast 2.0.1 install below includes rebuilding the cache and permissions.

Clean 10.6 install -> Upgrade 10.6.4 -> MultiBeast 2.0.1 User DSDT-> Reboot = CRASH

Boot to backup 10.6.2 -> Copy all Nvidia files to 10.6.4 System/Extensions -> Reboot = 1024 - No Sound. (Weirdness: Almost all kexts are folders. Tony saw this. Ran Cocktail and they were fixed and stayed fixed through the following steps.)

MB install Realtek1000SL -> Reboot = CRASH

Boot to backup 10.6.2 -> Copy Nvidia files again -> Reboot = 1024 - No Sound.

MB install LegacyHDA / ALC888 -> Reboot =CRASH

Boot to backup 10.6.2 -> Copy Nvidia files again -> Reboot = 1024 - No Sound.

Download (from site) and install 10.6.2 AppleHDAInstaller -> Reboot =CRASH

Boot to backup 10.6.2 -> Copy Nvidia files again -> Reboot = 1024 - I HAVE SOUND!

Obviously each component install and rebuild alters the video extensions and crashes the system. I'm glad I figured this out. I have a semi functioning system.

So I'm stuck at 1024 and have orange icons. Things could be worse :?

Anybody have a suggestion for an comparable alternative to my MSI N250GTS 1GB that might be more compatible with 10.6.4?

This is just guess: Try same card but from Gigabyte (GIGABYTE 250GTS 1GB (256bit) aktiv 1xDVI HDMI DDR3 - cost 137€ here). I will tell you for sure in month or two ... i will buying it as replacement for my old GeForce 8600GT

P.S.: Probably MSI once again fu*ked up bios in GFX card (like in my old MSI 7600GS)

Oh wow. This is bad news for me. Still on 10.6.2 but I have the same graphics cards as you. Maybe I will test on a separate drive to see what happens.

BTW, does your graphics card emit a high frequency noise when you listen up close?
