Hi

It seems E6400 is spupported by SL10.6

I had previsously installed to this laptop . I dont want to use that install becasue I purchased a legal OS SL DVD

Now my problem is ;

I followed the below turotrial
http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/ ... -x-on.html

The install stops between step 7 and 8 with kernel panic.

I also folloved the following tutorial as well and tried to install from USB stick.
http://osx86.sojugarden.com/installer/
Install stops same as above with a kernel panic

I would really appreciate any ideas why all of my retail installs fails please.
Thank you very much

Try removing "ElliotForceLegacyRTC.kext" from /Macintosh HD/Extra/Extensions/ or /Macintosh HD/System/Library/Extensions/. That fixed the problem for me :)

yes it seems to have solved my prolem as well. I recahed install screen where I must partition my HDD.

I used disktutilities to format a partition with journaled MAC format but i have "Volume erase failed" "could not modify parition map"

I have 4 partitions on the HDD with MBR. Sould I erase entierly my HDD and set GUI partition tables ?
Thank you

for those interested
I imaged the retail DVD to a 16GB stick on a mac and applied the patch as described here http://osx86.sojugarden.com/installer/ and removed ElliotForceLegacyRTC.kext from
extra folder of the USB stick

I don't know what's the reason but there is a solution:
in windows you can use disk management to create an unallocated space then
1)go start, run
2)type “diskpart”
3)then in diskpart (looks like command prompt)
4)type “list disk”
5)then type “select disk x” x is the disk the unalloc. partition is in
6)then type “create partition primary id=af”
7)then you have a partition that is already mac journaled

If you have a partition just delete it: select partition x; delete

After that in Disk Utility you can erase no problem.
