Hi Tony

Thanks a Million for starting this forum

Surely lot of PC users will benefit from this

Nothing comes close to your guide

With the help of your guide I tried and installed
, , and now Snow Leopard Retail DVD

Every install was a success except for a few issues.

Please speak more about "Firewire issues" in your blog
It is the one which is preventing to complete Mac clone.

Thanks again for your efforts

I chose these components to assemble a PC so that it matches latest iMac 27"

Intel DP55WG MainBoard/ Intel Core i5-750 Processor
2 x2 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1333/ 2x 500GB SATA HDD/ 24X Optiarc DVD Writer
512 MB XFX nVidia 9800GT card/ 22" Dell S2209W Display

Hi

I am currently running 10.6.2 successfully

I have few problems.

Firewire isnt working.
I installed a pci firewire card with via chipset and it failed

Network port isnt working.
I installed a Realtek RTL 8239 card and its working fine now

Sound worked with voodoo hda kexts when Tonys SMBIOS was there

I installed Autodesk Smoke 2010 Trial version with
a new Apple SMBIOS and sound was disabled.

So now no sound and no firewire.

How to correct these problems?

Hi

This board uses Intel 82578DC Ethernet port and
Intel 82566MM kext isnt working

Drivers needed.

Seems like the Intel boards are less than optimal for Hackintoshing. I haven't heard of an ethernet solution yet. If I do, I'll certainly let you know. I know you're using a PCI card for ethernet, but maybe try adding your device ID to the kext? If I had your board to test with, it would be easier to make suggestions. As for the firewire PCI card, they're hit or miss- try searching on the tonymacx86 Search Engine for specific cards that work.

Have you connected with anyone else Hackintoshing their Intel P55?

Solution to Intel 82578 ethernet at this link. I was so glad when after 3 days of searching I found someone that had ported the Linux e1000 driver that works with this chipset ;-)

Enjoy working ethernet ;-) Make sure you install it into /S/L/E/IONetworkingFamly.kext/Contents/Plugins/

Thanks Chabro

As of now Iam using realtek nic and enjoying
trial edition of Autodesk Smoke.
Asa it expires next week I will switch to
Intel 82578DC card and try the new kexts.

Thanks again dude.

Could you pretty please post a step-by-step? I would love you. I'm used to installing kext or patching in a device ID, but I've never added a kext as a plugin before. I tried tossing that kext into IONetworkingFamily but got an error that said I was doin' it wrong.

Here's the IONetworkingKext with the plugin dropped into the right place. Just install this as any other kext. You'll probably want to save or bookmark this for after the 10.6.3 update. ;)

Public/Intel%20Networking%20Fix%2010.6.2%20-%20IONetworkingFamily.kext.zip

FYI: You can just right click on any kext and choose show contents. Then you'll get inside to modify files. Just make sure to copy it to the desktop first, then you can install the kext using Kext Helper b7 or Kext Utility.

Removed the old one, installed the new one via Kext Helper. Rebooted and now when I go to Network in Sys Pref it just gets stuck and sits on "Loading Network..."

:(
