Installation stuck on the grey apple logo!

Hi, I am a total newby to this and am trying it all out for the first time, i've followed the instruction to install Mountain Lion on an HP 8200 elite sff. I was hanging every time at the grey apple screen and then stumbled across this post. I tried using the -v command and it set off with streams of text and hung at a point that said AppleIntelE1000e: Ethernet address (and then some Hex code). i tried again to check if it is just that point and agin it did exactly the same.

Any help would be very much appreciated
