In Search of the Best Hackintosh Graphics Card

Novabench detect wrong CPU Freq., its 3.4 GHz.

It's too bad Novabench doesn't show the revision of the software. I know that the newer posts are using a revised version. For example if you go to https://novabench.com/topmacs.php as of the time of this post the average top scores for 2011 Macs are around 900-1200 and I know my old e5200 & GTX260 weren't that powerful.

My new scores with a Q8400 and the same GTX260 is in the 970's - 980's. Somewhere between the average scores of the Mac11,3 - Mid 2010 and the MacBookPro8,2 - Early 2011 and even though the score is lower than when I tested my E5200 this setup is definitely faster, especially with Final Cut Pro.

Some of the recent scores I'm seeing like the one above this post are freakin' amazing compared to a real mac. Fantastic systems guys.

Well, new lion and new 480 scores

Still think I can get lots more out of the 480 as cinebench it only does 63fps, and I think that should be higher. LuxMark is nearly 8k so openCL is good, just openGL I gotta look into.

And I just ran it on my Windows partition and It scored 6000+?? (the ram)
Something must be seriously up with my hacintosh

There are 2 cards that i can personally vouch for as being the best bang for the buck and 100% compatible.

nVidia GTX 550 Ti. Reference Design, nVida branded.

XFX Radeon HD 6870 Black Edition *V1 is what i had, sure V2 works as well*.

Both of these cards are 100% OOB working. No kext altering, EFI strings, or anything else needed. Both give respectable scores on NovaBench, CineBench, and GLViewer.

Hope this helps some of ya in your quest for a great card with little to no hassle.

Make smbios set to MacPro3,1 and run again.
Imac 12,2 or whatever doesn't score well. AGPM not working well.
You can also try MacPro4,1 or 5,1 but then have to delete AppleTyMCEDriver.kext
from /S/L/E in order to prevent KP
And Than you can edit AGPM to preserver powerconsumption and even get higher scores. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=266036
