Where can i check this PM kernel: MSRDumper PStatesReached?
In the Console i didn`t see such parameter.
Did you install MSRDumper?

Re: IMPORTANT: 10.7.4 and Unlocked Sandy Bridge CPUs [TEMP FIX]

a panic will happen with pstates and intelcpupm kext being mentioned if you're using Macmini/Macmini5,1.

i decided to try and get my HD3000 working today and previously used iMac12,2 with the mentioned fixes in this thread and it was fine. However after changing my machine type to Macmini it broke. managed to boot to single user mode and simply change my smbios.plist and reboot to fix it.

Re: IMPORTANT: 10.7.4 and Unlocked Sandy Bridge CPUs [TEMP FIX]

something else i've noticed, it seems there is a difference with chimera boot loader and latest chameleon trunk branch in terms of PM and P states...

with latest chameleon trunk I simply needed to add DropSSDT set to Yes for my system to clock back to it's default clock instead of being stuck at 1.6Ghz.

with chimera download from tonymacx86 and the same settings, i was still stuck at 1.6Ghz even when my system was using 100% CPU time.

Re: IMPORTANT: 10.7.4 and Unlocked Sandy Bridge CPUs [TEMP FIX]

Sorry for stupid question ,but without MSRDumper can i check PStates?

Macman,

I want to add that this problem also effect non-K processors.

I also can confirm that the above workaround does also work.

Can you elaborate on how you discovered your issue? Are you using MSRDumper to check pstates?

Confirmed with MSRDumper:
Code:
CoreCount: 4
ThreadCount: 8
0xE2: 0x1e000402

MSRDumper CoreMulti(16)
MSRDumper PStatesReached: 16

Even a tight script loop (while [1 -eq 1 ]; do; echo >/dev/null ; done does not up the PState. (which it does under 10.7.3)

Even with 8 of those running (100% cpu on all 8 threads), no change in PState.

And a bit to help with investigation: (bdmesg end bits for PState/CState Generation)
Code:
Read HFS+ file: [hd(0,2)/Extra/DSDT.aml] 18944 bytes.
ACPI table not found: SSDT.aml
FADT: Restart Fix applied!
FADT: Using custom DSDT!
Found ACPI CPU: CPU0
Found ACPI CPU: CPU1
Found ACPI CPU: CPU2
Found ACPI CPU: CPU3
Found ACPI CPU: CPU4
Found ACPI CPU: CPU5
Found ACPI CPU: CPU6
Found ACPI CPU: CPU7

Re: IMPORTANT: 10.7.4 and Unlocked Sandy Bridge CPUs [TEMP FIX]

the fix works here as well....
I wonder if this will be a problem when mountain lion comes out???
In fact I'm getting 4-5% better on gb scores

TIA
R.

Re: IMPORTANT: 10.7.4 and Unlocked Sandy Bridge CPUs [TEMP FIX]

OK, so the issue may be all Sandy Bridge i7s, and not just K models. Seems like we have a few reports now of the i7-2600 having the same issue. Could be due to Hyperthreading?

Re: IMPORTANT: 10.7.4 and Unlocked Sandy Bridge CPUs [TEMP FIX]

System Specs:
Coolmaster HAF X Extreme Blue Edition
OS: Mac OSX 10.7.3
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate Dual Boot
Intel i7 3770k Ivy Bridge
Stock Cooler (Will be getting Noctua Soon!!)
Gigabyte GA-Z77x-UD5H
8GB Kingston Hyper-X 1600Mhz DDR3 (will upgrade to 32GB)
EVGA GTX580 1536DDR5
OCZ Vertex 3 240GB SSD
Coolmaster 3x 5.5 to 4x 3.5 HDD Enclosure

Is this issue affecting the 3770k Ivy Bridge CPU. Has anyone tried updating with this CPU and a Gigabyte GA-Z77x-UD5H?

OS X 10.7.4 DOES NOT support Ivy Bridge CPUs, DO NOT UPGRADE.

We need to wait until Apple release the kernel source so I can build a new kernel for it.

Can't you disable Hyperthreading on your bios and try out?
