Hi there,

today I bought my CostumMacPro with these specs:
CPU: i7-950
MB: X58-UD3R rev 2 FD
Memory: Kingston HyperX 6GB 1333Mhz
GPU: Sapphire HD5870

the installation went fine,
booted MacOSX with the iBoot CD and than ComboUpdate 10.6.5

But what must I use in MultiBeast 3.0.3 to get the graphic card working?

Greetingz

can someone help me,

trying it now for the 4th time with no succes ...

Oké finally got my system to work,
but I got 1 problem remaining...
When I boot up the system,
I need to disconnect the DVI cable and reconnect it before my display would work,
what can this problem be ?

Did you install the Chameleon 2.0 RC5 - ATI Experimental option (along with the System Utilities) in MultiBeast, and set GraphicsEnabler to Yes

The ATI 5XX0 drivers or Chameleon (I'm not sure which one) doesn't handle the switch from the BIOS resolution to the desktop resolution. Resulting in a black screen, when entering the desktop.

Some have reported adding Graphics Mode key/string pair to /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist solves this problem.

For more info, see viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5994

1. Booted with "iBoot" (last one)
2. Installed OSx 10.6.0
3. Booted in OSx 10.6.0 with "iBoot"
4. Installed OSx 10.6.5 ComboUpdate
5. Rebooted OSx with "iBoot"
6. Installed "Lnx2Mac's RTL81xx" but don't rebooted
7. What I did in MultiBeast 3.0.3 was:
7.1. UserDSDT
7.2. System Utilities (both checked)
7.3. Drivers & Bootloaders:
=> Kexts & Enablers:
==>Audio:
===>Realtek ALC8xx:
====>ALC8xxHDA
====>AppleHDA Rollback

==> Disk:
===>IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector
===>JMicron36x (AKA GSATA) (all checked)

==> Graphics:
===>Enablers:
====> ATY_Init Uakari

==>Miscellaneous:
===> NullCPUPowerManagement
===> USB 3.0 NEC/Renesas

=>Bootloaders: Nothing selected because of the "UserDSDT"

7.4. Customization:
=> nothing in "Boot Options" because of the "UserDSDT"
=> nothing in "System Definitions" because of the "UserDSDT"
=> Themes:
==> Tonymacx86 Remixed

7.5. OSx86 Software: all

My "com.apple.Boot.plist" looks like this:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
	<key>Kernel</key>
	<string>mach_kernel</string>
	<key>Kernel Flags</key>
	<string>arch=i386</string>
	<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
	<string>No</string>
	<key>Graphics Mode</key>
	<string>1920x1080x32</string>
	<key>Theme</key>
	<string>Default</string>
	<key>Timeout</key>
	<string>1</string>
	<key>Legacy Logo</key>
	<string>Yes</string>
	<key>EthernetBuiltIn</key>
	<string>Yes</string>
</dict>
</plist>

So, that's everything I did.
I hope you have something with this ;)
I'm running it in 32bit I think, but "CineBench 11.5" say it's 64bit ....

Greetings Bernd

Putting the Graphics Mode key/string in /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist is not guarnteed to work if your BIOS does not support that as a VESA mode.

You can check the supported VESA modes by typing ?video at the Chameleon boot prompt. If your desk top resolution is not supported, then you're out of luck until the Chameleon developer fix the bug.

Ok thanks for the replay,
I will check it out soon.

But my installation settings are correct ?

Have you tried using ATY_Init Vervet yet? That's what I use with my 5870.

hey ArKay,

no, I haven't tried it yet...
But don't know why I should do this.
When I installed OSx 10.6.0 and updated to 10.6.5,
in System profiler by PCI my card was recognized "out of the box"
and there was standing:
"ATI Radeon HD 5870:

Naam: ATI,Uakari"

The only thing I did for to be shore that the GPU card would work was enabling:
==> Graphics:
===>Enablers:
====> ATY_Init Uakari
in MultiBeast 3.0.3

Is Vervet better ?
