Every time I try to install more than one fix via Multibeast, my system becomes completely or nearly unbootable. I've formatted my hdd and reinstalled about 4 times now. I clearly do not know what I'm doing. I probably shouldn't have even taken on this project, but at this point I'm determined to beat this machine into submission.

Anyway. I know what I'm asking for is a tedious task and selfish. But could someone please take a look at my parts and tell me what boxes to check? Maybe even in screenshot form?

Here's an imgur album of what I think is probably the important stuff: http://imgur.com/a/RtZYb#0
My mobo is a Gigabyte Z77N-WiFi.

And here's a basic list of issues I'm hoping to fix:
Launchpad, mission control, the notification pane, and switching to dashboard are all super laggy.
A "new tab" window in Safari constantly "redraws" itself; again, superlag.
Also, no matter what I do, I can't boot directly from my hard drive; I've gotta have that stupid USB plugged in.
Also, no matter what I do, I can't boot without the -x command.

I'll be grateful for any help. I'm sure I'm making this more complicated than it needs to be. Honestly, with my skill level, it's pretty amazing that I've made it this far.
