Hackintosh Project #11 TYPE: Sony VAIO E Series MODEL: SVE14125CXW VIDEO: Intel HD4000 PROCESSOR: Ivy Bridge Core i5-3210M 2.5GHz ETHERNET: Picked up as Realtek 8169 in UniBeast WIRELESS: Atheros WB225 ((AR9485 & AR3012 WiFi/Bluetooth combo) (Bluetooth detected on the card only)) AUDIO: Intel HD I could use some suggestions and some assistance if someone feels they can just drop answers and solutions in this thread for hackintoshing a SVE14125CXW. This is a Sony Vaio (Vaiotosh) how I would like to call it as it has some nice mac friendly hardware and I believe this has the potential to be just as great on a hackintosh level as the HP ProBook 4230s. For starters, just to let you know somewhat where my knowledge base is on hackintoshing. This would be like my 11th build, and UniBeast is my choice of install now because hey, it's just the $#!t to be honest. I would say I'm still on the mediocre side as I understand a great deal but still not having too much of a clue when it comes to DSDTs and things like that (just got comfortable editing a chameleon.plist file). Well let's get into it shall we..... Tools that I've used: 1. Mountain Lion.app 10.8 2. UniBeast 1.5.3 3. MultiBeast 5.2.1 Install Process Pre Requisites: This Vaio has a cool UEFI based BIOS that you access by pressing the access button while the machine is powered off. Access the BIOS by pressing F2 and make 2 changes. The boot order where Unibeast can boot before your hard drive and "UEFI" to "Legacy" (Without doing so you will be unable to boot from the UniBeast installer). First time I used my UniBeast stick, I assume it was universal to work both on desktop and laptop but couldn't get it to boot on the Vaio itself. I rebuilt UniBeast with laptop support and Legacy USB and now I can finally boot from the USB stick. Install Mountain Lion. After install, boot from UniBeast again them run MultiBeast. Opyions I chose were: EasyBeast Installl PS2 for mouse and keyboard MacBook Pro 8,1 definition PCI Root fix (for PCIRootUID=1) After MultiBeast install I head over to the Extra folder and edit the chameleon.plist file with the string that loads the HD4000 Kext for this laptop. ig-platform-id: 01660003, Stolen RAM for FB: 64MB, Pipes: 2, Ports: 2, FBMem: 2 Code: <key>device-properties</key> <string>7f0000000100000001000000730000000200000002010c00d041030a000000000101060000027fff04002c0000004100410050004c002c00690067002d0070006c006100740066006f0072006d002d006900640000000800000003006601140000006800640061002d0067006600780000000d0000006f6e626f6172642d31</string> Reboot. It boots up but I cant use usb flash drives and external hard drives. USB mouse works fine though. I don't understand.... Then I reinstall MultiBeast choosing the USB Legacy option but MultiBeast fails to install. I've tried it quite a few times and eventually got the kext installed by taking my hard drive out and using multibeast to install onto it from another mac. Once installed that way, placed the hard drive back into the vaio and it started reading the flash drives and externals. *WEBCAM* as well. Now what I do is install the 2 USB kext separately with KextBeast by first backing up the 2 USB kext to my UniBeast installer flash drive so when I boot using UniBeast with the legacy usb support built in, I then can proceed to manually install the USB legacy kexts without having to worry about multibeast failing when I try it that way. Also another error I have which really annoys me is that when I go check "About This Mac" the whole OS refreshes as if it just got through rebooting. I cant get that screen and I really want to be able to access About this Mac. I feel it's apart of having a mac. Plus I want to see what's all detected and not and other stuff as well. Is this a dsdt issue? Do I need one generated in order for me to be able to access about this mac without the system refreshing itself? Is that even a problem? Has anyone else experienced such behavior after a post MultiBeast install? Is this do to needing some type of ACPI Platform kext for recognizing the board inside the vaio? Is that even needed to read the board I don't want to sound stupid. What works where I'm at now... Ethernet HD4000 Webcam Bluetooth Haven't bothered with sound as I know a voodoo kext should more than likely knock that out. Maybe realtek as well, not sure.... What isn't working or not confirmed as of yet... Wifi (Wont work because after heavy research the Atheros version they use on this combo card is not working under mountain lion as of yet. I'll just replace this with one that is compatible under mountain lion and personally, who still really bluetooths like that?) USB 3.0 (Unconfirmed) Audio (Unconfirmed but sure it will work with a voodoo option from multibeast) Sleep Anyone got any suggestions on how I can get this working in tip-top hackintosh shape? I know there some kext out there I'm going to mess around with as far as the multi gesture touchpad as this vaio has one of those. Please any help would be much appreciated and hopefully we can rise this nice little laptop of for glory of a worthy hackintoshable VAIOBook Pro. Can someone help with a dsdt if you think I really need one with what I have and the symptoms I have as well? Would need instructions on what app to use to generate and create one or I can install Ubuntu and get one from Linux...(would need to know how to that as well but have Ubuntu if needed for dsdt creation). Plus I wouldn't know where to start as far as editing one to make it how it should be. All help is appreciated it.
