Anyone know if GTX480 is safe with 10.6.8 ? to scared to update incase bricks my hack which i need daily.

I've been rocking this for a month, in guess you hadn't moved on. Works great.

UPDATE: i too now 'rocking' 10.6.8. had to update both graphics drivers and CUDA from Nvida website. And make sure system defination was 4,1 MacPro.

CUDA hack for mercury playback on PremPro also working.

Finally, i read somewhere, that removing the 'AppleGraphicsManagement.kext' from S/L/E increases performance. This indeed doe, i checked using ultility CUDA-Z.

i too am waiting for 100% confirm answer. Happy with 10.6.8 for now.

It`s definitively working, but depending on an injection method, performance may vary.
I tried both Graphics enabler and NVEnabler and second was performing much better.
I`m yet to try a proper DSDT to see if it would perform even faster.

Ok, I made a custom DSDT for P55-GD65 and GTX480 and it runs waaaaaay better.
Didn`t install a thing except DSDT and games performance is fairly close to that of Windows drivers.
Graphics enabler was absolutely sluggish and NVEnabler was running fine, although still not nearly well as DSDT.

update:

finally took the dive and upgraded to 10.7.2. all working inc CUDA.

this website is awesome. What sort of benchmarks are people getting generally?
