I upgraded my stable Lion installation a couple of weeks back once it seemed like some of the kinks were worked out of the ML install and overall things have been working fine. The only thing driving me nuts is the inconsistency I'm seeing when waking the computer from sleep. The computer wakes up every time without fail, however what happens when it wakes is sometimes strange. It seems one of three things happens:

1. The computer wakes normally and after a few seconds my USB mouse/keyboard function normally and I'm good to go. This also happened when I ran Lion.

2. The computer wakes while initially showing the date and time that it was when the computer was put to sleep. You can move the mouse and even access the "Apple menu" in the corner of the screen, but nothing else responds. You cannot access any programs that were open at the time of sleep, click on anything in the dock, etc. If you do attempt to use something, you end up with the spinning beach ball that just doesn't ever go away. You have to reset the computer to get back to normal again.

3. The computer wakes while initially showing the date and time that it was when the computer was put to sleep. The mouse and keyboard never come back and the computer is completely frozen, which again requires a restart.

At first it seemed like certain applications, if left open at time of sleep, could cause this when waking from sleep. I seemed to notice this with iTunes, but maybe it was just coincidence because even now when I put the computer to sleep I make sure iTunes is closed and usually the only things open at this point are maybe Safari, Mail, and Excel.

I've listed my hardware below. Everything is the same in my system that worked fine with Lion with the exception of the video card. Previously I had a EVGA GTX 570, but recently upgraded to the Gigabyte GTX 670. I am also running the Gigabyte F12 bios with the standard F12 DSDT from the DSDT database just like I did when I ran Lion. So all that's changed is the installation of ML + upgraded video card. As far as I can tell so far, everything else seems to be working just fine except for sleep/wake.

Any ideas??

There is nothing so far, which could indicate the problem. Only issue I am seeing is: your kextcache should be renewed. Type in Terminal:

sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions

After that reboot.

Next time you have Problem, Check the Time and post the corresponding System.log entries.

Thanks. Will do. The strange thing is that I put the computer to sleep that night on 9/8 and when I woke it up in the morning, that's when it froze right off the bat and I had to do a hard reset via the button on my case.

Just to give an update so it doesn't look like I abandoned the topic after receiving advice...

After following smolderas' advice, I have not had the freeze yet after waking from sleep. I will update the thread if it does happen again though. So far so good.

Spoke too soon. This morning at about 10:25am I woke up the computer and everything seemed normal, but I noticed that although I could move the mouse, nothing else was functioning. Everything was frozen except for being able to move the mouse cursor. I reset the computer and put the log below. The log seems to completely skip the 10:25 wakeup event and goes straight from the sleep event last night to the boot event AFTER I reset the computer.
