Please read and comply with the Rules by listing your system components in your profile.
Nobody can help you if they don't know what you have.

Thanks in anticipation.

Connect to your onboard graphics with DVI (VGA is not supported).

Boot with -v -x and post a picture of the screen when it stops.

Good Luck

Are you really attempting this with Mountain Lion ?

You need at least F7 for that particular MB / Proc combination. F3 isn't even listed as available for that MB, so not sure how you got that.

F6 according to the Gigabyte CPU Compatibility List but yes, if you have F3 (?) it's going to need an upgrade.

i chose Mountain Lion for Pro Tools 10 compatibility, however with PT11 i think i can go onto Mavericks.

F3 bios was 'out of the box' but will definitely upgrade before moving forward (any issues with F9 or F10beta?)

my install attempts were using on-board HDMI

booting with -x -v i see that it finishes the long list and goes to a black screen. (too quick to read the last entry!!)

There is an element of risk when upgrading your BIOS and also when using beta firmware.
The decision is yours but you will have to upgrade your BIOS to move forward with your current build.

Having said that, I use beta BIOS on my builds and so far so good.
