First build, please give some advice

Hi,

at the moment i'm planing my first build.
Just have some testings done with my old hp system.
The old system works quite good but now the system is 6years old.
So there have to be something new.

So now i want to buy this hardware, nearly the same like in the hackintosh build guide.

1. Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP5 TH
2. i7-3770
3. Corsair Vengance 16GB RAM
4. Samsung SSD 840 250GB
5. Corsair Carbide 300R
6. Corsair Hydro Series H60
8. Videocard Nvidia i'm not sure which one is my old system but for the beginning it will be good enough.
9. Power Supply i will use from my old system.

Pos. 8 and 9 will be replaced if necessary.

Here are my Question:
1. For the Mainboard is it possible to get a 5.1 sound system to work with osx?
I owned a few year ago a teufel system with analog inputs.
2. For the mainboard is the thunderbolt port working in the hackintosh?
At the moment i dont see any benefit for the thunderbolt ports for my normal usage.
3. For the SSD is the Samsung Extrem from the Buyers guide faster the the one i selected?
4. Is it possible to use the internal Intel HD4000 additional to my nvidia videocard?
i want to use the HD4000 for a third monitor if possible.

Any help or discussion is welcome.

Hi,

Looks like a nice system, I will build a system soon also with your motherboard, CPU, RAM and SSD

1. Yes it is, search on the forum for HDMI audio and you'll find a thread for HDMI audio and 5.1 sound.
2. The Thunderbolt is working if you connect it before booting, no hot swappable
3. I don't know anything about SSD's, I think they are all the same
4. Yes, it probably will

thanks for the fast reply.

for the 5.1 sound i think i did not discript it good enogh.

I have no HDMI sound system.
The Teufel system is connect by 3 cables directly to the mainboard soundcard.
Here you can see the manual of the sound system(sorry i only find a german manual), please see page 10.

In the past i got not working the 5.1 sound with itunes and the soundcard.
