[EasyGuide] How to add HDEF to your dsdt

Status
Not open for further replies.
I patched the DSDT with HDEF, fixed the ID Layout with the 888 78 03 00 00,
compiled with no errors, installed the dsdt.
I can see it in the System Information but no devices show in Sound Prefs.

I've attached a copy of the IOReg.

BIOS has Azalia Enabled/Disabled.
Your BIOS doesn't know about HDEF. I don't know if your motherboard will work with HDEF. Try this:
1. DSDTSE/dsdt: Search AZALIA Replace HDEF
2. DSDTSE/dsdt: remove Device (HDEF) - previously AZALIA
3. DSDTSE/dsdt: add Device (HDEF)
4. DSDTSE/dsdt: Compile dsdt
5. DSDTSE/dsdt: Install dsdt
6. Restart

Reply with a copy of IOReg.

I did a search for "Azalia" to replace with "HDEF", comes up with "no word found".
I did a search for "Device" and scrolled through the whole DSDT but didn't find anything
that even remotely looked like Audio.
I'll try to add the "HDEF" and if it doesn't work I'll attach the IOReg.

So I followed these instructions which were a breeze to follow and I now see a sound device in the System Report but do not have any options to select for sound output. Am I missing anything from this to get sound working?
Attach a copy of IOReg. Verify the file opens in IOReg before attaching.

Here is a copy of IOReg saved using the DSDTSE app.

Replacing the 10.7.3 AppleHDA.kext with the beta one you posted in another thread provides me with the inputs and the volume slider, but there is no sound coming through with the kext modification. Without the kext there is no slider and no output option whatsoever.

I don't know what is wrong. Attached your edited dsdt.

This is a strange IOReg. Your graphics card is not on the PCI0 device; HDEF is. The audio devices did not load; don't know why. Attach dsdt.

Not sure if it makes any differences in the DSDT but the board has dual 5520 Chipsets. Attached is a copy of my DSDT. It also has a basic built in video card (Matrox) that is tied in with the IPMI. I've gone through and changed the jumpers to disable it. Will see if that makes any difference.

What AppleHDA.kext is installed?

What AppleHDA.kext is installed and where did you get it?

I used the one from the 888-Beta Lion AppleHDA v2.1.3.2 downloaded from here.

The 888 beta you posted in another thread. The default Lion one does not give me the volume slider and most of the inputs.
