when partitioning and selecting the partition type, I don't see any Encrypted options. Why? Thanks.
diskutil: no Journaled, Encrypted option

I don't think thats an option, unless proven wrong. But it is possible to make folders/files encrypted in OS X.

This can be done in OS X alone. It is possible to make certain folders password protected or encrypted.
