I have Catalina 10.5.6 and I upgraded Clover and kexts to latest version.
I wanted it to be up-to-date before upgrading to Big Sur.
However, it stopped bootting with the error Err(0x5) @ GV Wake-failure.
I attached screenshots of the error and kexts including its version.
I downloaded the new kexts with Hackintool but I only used the .kext files.
There were also files with other extensions. Not sure if it was required.

My hardware:
Intel i7 4770k CPU
Gigabyte H87-D3H Motherboard
Intel HD 4600 GPU
OCZ Agility 3 180GB SSD

Hopefully someone has a solution.
Upgrading to Big Sur without deleting my files and apps could be good for me too.
I have a CCC backup but prefer not to restore.
Thank you.

did you add in all the new needed and required entries into your config.plist?

In the newer versions of Clover the folder structure has changed, make sure that you have all of your drivers in the new location. /EFI/CLOVER/drivers/UEFI.

There is also the addition of a Quirks section in the config.plist which means that you cannot just take your old config.plist and use it with newer versions of Clover.

Rather than learning the newer variations of Clover which incorporate elements of the OpenCore boot loader, it would be better to switch to OpenCore now which is better documented/supported.

Can I directly upgrade to Big Sur while preserving my data?
Yes.

Yes.
Thanks.
Not sure how do all of this.
Instructions may help.
I think I prefer to upgrade directly to Big Sur while preserving my data.
Link to direct upgrade instructions in the current situation that Catalina doesn't boot will be helpful.

I don't have that, try the forum Search tool.

Be aware that each time you update Clover a full backup of your /EFI folder is saved to the system disk in /EFI-Backups.
To revert to your previous state just replace the /EFI folder on the EFI Partition with the one from the backups.

That's great. I'll try to use EFI-backups.
If I run a Big Sur installation from a USB flash drive, it should preserve the current installation, right?
I had an issue in the past with an earlier version.

It doesn't matter where you run it from, the problem comes if you format the drive.
You will have to update Clover correctly in order to run Big Sur (or use OpenCore instead).

I ended switching to OpenCore and with few hours of work upgraded to Big Sur.
It was much more work following the OpenCore Install Guide than I had in the past.
I was used to Unibeast and Multibeast.
Is it possible to upgrade now to Monterey and use it without issues?
I would like to make sure there are no issues with my hardware specs.
Especially because of the Intel HD 4600 GPU.
I read that Intel HD 4000 is not support in Monterey.
Is it just HD 4000 not supported or the GPU series which includes HD 4600?

Edit:
I upgraded from Big Sur to Monterey without issues.
OpenCore seems much better.
In terms of design, it doesn't look good on boot and the verbosity seems too much.

Edit 2:
I found OpenCore's GUI
