Now, the Fractal R4 is supposed to be a very quite case. I believe it comes with 2 140mm fans. Do I need to purchase any more fans for this set up? Is the liquid cooling on the processor even necessary?

And is the rest of my set-up alright?

Kevzaz,

The parts you picked sound great, I have a UD5H mobo too. I can't speak for the video card, as I don't know much about them (I have a cheaper AMD one).

The liquid cooling is not a must for your system, but it kind of depends on the processor you end up getting (I read on this forum that sometimes you get lucky when you buy your processor and it will run cooler). That was the case for me, I got the i5-3570K chip and I used air cooling (a Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus). I overclocked mine to 4.5GHz, and it doesn't get very hot at max load.

I would maybe hold off on getting additional case fans until you see how the system's temps are. I bought several, and now my system is a bit on the noisy side and I'm thinking of taking one or two out. You probably do want at least one though on the front of the case to pull air into the computer, assuming that the two already in the case push the air out the back and the top.

I've read mixed opinions on the water cooling. If you are getting 2 SSD's, are you going to add OS X and Windows? If you're gaming, the water cooling might not be a bad idea. Really depends on what you want to do, but definitely don't overclock without replacing the stock cooler. Good luck!
