Can you vets 'vet' my build real quick?

No harm in making the 2TB an external. You'll want to make sure it's connecting via USB 3.0, though.

Ended up cancelling the order for the Fractal and getting a Corsair 200R and a Cooler Master Hyper T4. The cooler only cost $5 with current rebates on Amazon, so I said why not.

Now I'm just reading all the articles and watching all the videos I can to ensure I know how to put the thing together once it gets here....and after I read all the manuals of course.

I made a rookie mistake. The tower, Fractal Design 1000, has enough space for 3x 2.5" SSD's, or 2x 3.5" HDD's, or one of each. I've got 2 HDD's, and one SSD. Do I cancel the order and get a different case or make the 2 TB into an external? Any other ideas?

Live and learn. Let's just hope that's the worst that happens.

Easy to fix. Change the 1Tb to a laptop drive - http://www.amazon.com/HITACHI-Travelstar-7K1000-B-internal-notebook/dp/B00BM7YN12/
Assuming the 2Tb drive is for storage only, get a http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Drives-Intellipower-WD20NPVX/dp/B00COFNBPA/

Now you have 3 2.5" laptop drives - should all fit.

Here's a 200R build video in real time with some similar components to yours.

It's very thorough, detailed and easy to follow along. Electric screwdriver is not needed.

Excellent! Thanks for the find. The components are incredibly similar. Will be nice to follow and take my time. I watched a couple videos yesterday to get the feel, and will watch this as I'm going through the build.

The only thing is now I have to get ahold of a newer Mac to download Mountain Lion. Mine is too old (07') and running Snow Leopard. Apple won't let me download ML, and I don't have anyone around me that I know has a Mac to use to DL and make a bootable USB.

Thanks for the suggestion! If I didn't already order them, and those were a little cheaper I would do it. I really liked the fractal case. It was smaller, minimal, and sleek.

You can probably buy a cheap adapter and mount an 3.5HDD in a 5.25" drive bay.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Description=3.5%20to%205.25%20bay%20adapter&Submit=ENE

Cases usually have at least one 5.25" drive bay, a lot have as many as 3.

BTW, you mentioned you would be doing graphics and video editing, with a budget of $1500 you would really should be able to afford a good mid range card. Integrated graphics have gotten so much better, but still dont cut it for a lot of applications. Why not a 650ti boost for like $150 and get OpenCL and CUDA acceleration for your video/photo editing?

Heres a deal on the 120gb SSD for $100:

I just picked up one for myself tonight. Never heard of the site before, and Im not sure how long free shipping will take or if I'll get the right product. But it has a good Google shopping rating with a fair number of reviews and accepts paypal. I figure it cant be any worse than any of the other current vendors from amazon.

Here she is...not built yet. I did finish building it last night though. Followed the video posted on here verbatim and took my time. It's up and running and has a couple quirks (post here), but am excited to get it in top shape. The worst is now I'm at work, and have to think about it all day. It doesn't make me want to work harder to make time fly, but find a way to 'get sick' and go home . I won't do that though....

It's like remembering Christmas morning all over again. My wife knows not to open any packages that come from me because I love opening new packages...is that a normal thing?
