Can i install mountain lion on an ide drive?

I want to install mac os x on an ide drive. is it even possible . ive head of j micron controller but my mother board use marvell. i have a 1 tb sata harddisk but i have important things in it. so i have to use my old ide drive. is it possible to install ML on ide drive please respond.

My specs
Intel i7
Asus P7
1 tb hard disk
8 gb ram (2 X 4GB ram)

SATA controller has to allow for AHCI storage.
