For USB3 you just need to get the firmware update from Asus. As soon as I updated my firmware with it I was golden.

Hi, could you give a little more about your bios version info before and after the update?

I used 306 before, now I have 311(for Asus A43SV). It(the usb 3 port) could power the device which connected with it. But still not get work. Now the info in dmesg about PXHCD and USBF looks like following:

Code:
PXHCD 0xffffff80f283a000::IssueEndpointCommand - Endpoint is not in running state
PXHCD 0xffffff80f283a000::ReadyForTransfer - Endpoint state[0] not allow transfer
0xffffff80f283a000::EnqueueTransferDescriptor - abort transction
PXHCD 0xffffff80f283a000::IssueEndpointCommand - Endpoint is not in running state
USBF:	362.234	IOUSBHIDDriver(AppleHIDMouse)[0xffffff80172b5800]::RearmInterruptRead returning error 0xe00002e2, not issuing any reads to device

You are lucky, your latest version is P8Z68-V-PRO BIOS 1101, it's 2011.12.02

But mine 311 for ASUS A43SV/K43SV is only at 2011.09.27

For what it's worth, it wasn't the bios update that fixed the issue for me.. It was the usb3 speedboost packet that had the firmware update.

What's "the usb3 speedboost packet" here? Please give me a little more hint about it. Thanks.

Go there, select your OS, tree out the USB section, and the middle one had the usb firmware update (I don't know if the other ones do also, but the one that says speed boost definitely did.)

Thanks a lot.

I don't have that download item in my model, but I checked the webpage,
http://event.asus.com/mb/2010/the_best_ ... USB3.0.htm

And used the usb3 boost package from the webpage of your mobo.

It got better.

Now, usb stick works fine. But I found one issue, when I plugged in my apple usb mouse, it works fine. But OSX will crash when I un-plugged that mouse. I got a dialog said:

You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button until it turns off, then press the Power button again.

I guess there is still issue in the BIOS of my laptop.

Hi Betelgeuse,

I've just purchased that same computer (almost) as you mentioned, so thank you so much in advance for saying that you succeded in making an hackintoch out of it.

:)

My friend thanks for your guide and was able to have my Hackintoch! I give you credit on my own guide http://tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=46778

Have you ever tried installing SnowLeopard on Asus P8Z68-V PRO BIOS settings on default seetings? I did and it worked for me. Interesting enough I also used your suggested BIOS mod and was able to install SL too.

Can you someday test and confirm if default BIOS may work with your hardware? I want to proof that Asus P8Z68-V PRO may not need any BIOS mod.

Quick post from me with my experience. I have finally completed my build:

Asus P8Z68-V Pro/GEN3
Intel i5-2500k
16GB G.Skill RipjawsX
2GB Point Of View Nvidia GTS450
128GB Crucial M4 SSD
Windows 7 Ultimate / OSX Lion dual boot

I am using BIOS 3101 (just noticed 3102 was released 3 days later) and I didn't have to disable speedstep or turbo to get the system up and running. I haven't actually read anywhere why those options were supposed to be disabled.

I used default BIOS settings without any problems and I have now enabled the iGPU as well as my card so in Windows I can use lucidlogix virtu.

Bluetooth worked without any tweaking but I will be following your info for enabling USB3.

When I tried to use the DSDT with Lion Multibeast it caused kernel panics so I started again and installed easybeast along with any additional options I wanted from multibeast. I have full screen full res display and my Dell ST2210 monitor is recognised correctly.

Will be tweaking the setup to get as many of my additional components running in Lion but so far so good. Did take me 7 days to get this far though, one of the main problems was the USB devices not being recognised so I used a PCI PS/2 card which did the job. Now my wireless microsoft desktop works fine.
