If I were you, I would remove the drawer completely, and modify a case so that it could slide in and out of the desk like the draw would.
build a custom case while i wait?

very neat that you mentioned using a modified case instead of using the original drawer since the exact same thing was presented in another forum as well!
I'm considering doing that since it would preserve the original drawer in case things go awry, or if I decide to can the idea in the future for a more portable computer.
Any suggestions on materials to use?
BTW, if it helps at all i managed to find the exact tv stand online.

notice the 3 slide out drawers... I will be using either the far left, or the far right.
