Hi guys,

On my Asus X550LDV I have been using ApplePS2SmartTouchpad kext with my ELAN touchpad, and it worked fine from Mavericks to El Capitan.

On Mac OS X 10.12.0 it didn't really work reliably. After updating to 10.12.1 beta it works perfect, with the patched prefpane, even sound keys work, as well as multi finger gestures.

The only things that bother me and that are not working are the three finger swipe up for Launchpad (doesn't work on both of my Hacks that run Sierra) and a weird issue with brightness keys.

I followed the guide for enabling the brightness keys through ACPI edits in the _Q0E and _Q0F methods in my DSDT (which I previously didn't need) and this made the fn+f5 and f6 work for brightness control, but it only works in the login screen of Mac OS X 10.12.1, once I login, it doesn't work anymore, and I have to use the menubar app.. I find it really strange, I followed the same strategy on my Lenovo L420 and brightness control works great both in login screen and in user account... I would love some help with this, thanks in advance

I am enjoying Sierra a lot, I just would like to take care of these last problems.

Check your settings in SysPrefs->Keyboard->Shortcuts. Make sure Display->Brightness are set to F14/F15.

Hi RehabMan, I appreciate the help, but there is no such setting in my System Preferences.
I find it really strange that the Displays tab does not appear

I just discovered that brightness control works in user account by pressing SHIFT+F2 or F3,when in login screen it only works with the right combination, which is fn+f5 or f6..... Is there any way to revert to default?

It is normal. Shows on some systems, not on others. May depend on SMBIOS or some other factor. But it doesn't matter, F14/F15 are still assigned to brightness.

I just created a new user account in my Hack and brightness keys work perfectly, using fn+f5 and f6 , but on my old account which I had since Mavericks is where the problem occurs.. Any way to solve this or debug the issue?

Must be some preferences issue... Remove all preferences from ~/Library/Preferences.

I think it depends on whether the machine's keyboard actually has the keys F14 & F15... For me, it didn't appear until I used your keyboard kext and assigned my brightness keys to F14/F15.

Are you sure it is safe to remove all this?
