AMD 7970 with Yosemite problems

Hello,

recently i installed OSX Yosemite on my machine which had at the time a Nvidia 640,
Yesterday i picked up a Asus Directcuii 7970 and put it into my machine.

but with little luck. though i do have several questions:
1) the guide says my computer screen will go black until it reaches the desktop, this however does not happen and the boot screen is being displayed.
2) the loading screen will load a white screen with the mouse, if you leave it it will turn into a black screen, it says that you should use sleep mode to put it to sleep and turn it back on again but this however cannot be done with my case as if you press the power button it will turn off. (after 20 seconds)

any suggestions? thanks
