2nd drive spinning problem

I have a second hard drive that is used for personal data. The problem is that I hear it start spinning (like after sleeping) each 2-3 minutes. In Mac OS, how can i know what is the process that make it spins so often?

I'm having the same problem. The sound of a stopping HDD is annoying. Spend all my efforts in building a quit machine....

I searched the site, but didn't find a suitable solution. Any suggestions?

one solution is to go into system perfs -> energy and uncheck the option to put the drives to sleep as much as possible.
