1070 vs RX580 etc

Hey Everyone.

Just built a i7-770k Z270x machine and put an old HD5770 graphics card in it to start with but now want to put a more decent card in. It's running Siera - not High Siera, and I probably won't upgrade to High Siera for quite a while until I have to.

Just wondering about people's thoughts on the AMD / NVIDIA choices that are really simple to get running. I am considering either the 1070 / 1060 from NVIDIA or an RX580 from AMD. The machine is used for quite a mix of things from Final Cut Pro / Adobe Creative Suite, right through to some gaming.

Anybody tried both and have any thoughts?

All AMD cards are way overpriced due to cryptocurrency mining.
RX580 was supposed to be $199 card but they are sold at $350-$450 due to high demand.
Knowing this, I personally would never be able to buy AMD cards at current price.
