I will go buy a Firewire PCI Controler today,
As mentionned in other threads, TI (Texas Instruments) Is the most compatible firewire controller with apple...

It is possible to use i386 (32bit) mode with previous drivers (v2.4.1) for TC Electronic's interfaces. As I know this configuration will work with some limits.

Have you updated your Presonus drivers to Lion also?
I don't see any Lion drivers for Saffire LE. Their version 1.2 driver is dated 03/10/2007

No problems with my MOTU firewire interface here. Latest drivers from 8/9/2011

32 or 64bit system?

Both 32-bit and 64-bit.
I'm running at 64-bit.
