First post Newbie!!

I am planning on building my first Hackintosh and have seen lots of posts about buying hardware and then getting a version of OS X that will play nicely as possible with it but not much on doing it the other way around. Specifically, I have an install disc for 10.6.3 and plan on first installing it and then upgrading from there.

The CPU and MoBo that I am going to be running are the i3-4330 and the MSI H81i (mini-itx).

Is the only thing I have to worry about is to make sure the version of 10.6.8 I have is 64-bit and then add any drivers I may need?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

You can install 10.6.3 on your hardware using iBoot Haswell and the SL retail DVD, but 10.6.x will not boot from the HDD because there is no support in 10.6.3 for Haswell hardware.
Install 10.6.3
Update to 10.6.8 to get the MAS
download Yosemite
create USB installer - either Clover or UniBeast
Install Yosemite

Yosemite will run on Haswell hardware

OK, I've installed 10.6.3 and have tried to install a the RealTek81xxx kext so I can get the ethernet enabled on my mobo but I'm not having any luck doing it. I've tried using Kext Wizard but the kext is greyed out when it comes to selecting it within the Wizard.

Also, I can only boot from Chimera with iBoot-Haswell in the dvd drive.

Any suggestions? Thanks

Can you please post a snapshot of that selection screen?

I've attached a shot below. Had to go old school since Grab wasn't working either.

That is not a kext. It seems like a binary file. You have to download and install the kext for enabling your network.

First you should have to identify which network adapter you have in your system. As you mentioned above, if you have a RTL8111G adapter then you can use one of the kext from below link. It might help you to enable the Ethernet.

Thanks for the help Jithin. Still no luck though.

I found this thread (http://www.tonymacx86.com/user-buil...-10-8-5-no-dsdt-fully-working-everything.html) referring to a build with the same mobo and it mentions in the OP that:

"On-board Ethernet: Realtek RTL 8111G "The 8-triple-one-G" Works with RTL8111-Binary driver."

I would think that is the binary file that I was trying to install with Kext Wizard. If it is, how do I install it?

Have you tried to install the kext linked in post#6.

Also in the above thread he has not installed any type of binary directly. Just check his multibeast installation options screenshot attached on that thread. He was installaed the driver "Realtek-Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx v0.0.90". You can also try to download and install the same.
