If I have to go through the installation process again with all that work inside the terminal, picking the right drivers again, I'm not sure I will upgrade. I can do it with my hands tied behind my back right now, but not in 3 months :)
About the original backup - I guess time capsule would be...
The problem with Superduper is that once your OS X system is down/corrupt you have no way of running it unless you have yet another OS X system.
Any hints on a pure cloner for windows that will handle the entire partition and still have it bootable? It would be very convenient to just boot up...
What is your backup/rollback solution for your OS X installation?
I'd like to hear from someone who has done the process of:
backing up your successful installation
trying stuff that messes up the installation (like installing drivers that breaks the installation completely)
then having to...
Extremely relevant video when you want to ensure a good connection to your cooler! I installed the big and bulky Thermalright Macho cooler on a +1 Ghz overclock and this video helped me tremendously in showing me exactly shows how the compound is spread
Sounds great :)
I've been using Macrium reflect (disk clone/imaging tool) to do a complete image of my original installation. I could not restore it even though I switched SATA cables to make sure that the disk had the same number in the controller as the original disk.
Is there any way to...
Numerous crashed installations later I've reinstalled again. The thing that was causing the crashes was selecting anything but Mac Pro 3.1. I was hoping to get Retina fonts as these fonts are jagged.
Soundcard is working, Bluetooth connection at login screen is working and CPU and GPU...
I messed up the installation trying to get sound and setting Mac Pro version. It worked perfectly before, So I'll try with a fresh install.
Would it be a better idea to install Clover than going with Multibeast? It seems that you can actually install all updates from App Store
So could I do the following?
Mount the EFI partition
Copy the contents to the root of my OS X drive
Install the audio driver via Multibeast
copy the modified contents back to the EFI partition
reboot
Thanks again :)
Since I've fiddled around with the boot partitions I'm getting an error.
"There is no '/Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist' file on the target volume. Either place one there or select 'Customize > Basic Boot Options' to continue."
I then choose "Basic Boot Options", but then I am...
Makes sense :) I'm making a Superduper image of the OS X drive and then I'll try the ALC1150 driver.
Any idea of getting smoother fonts? (I can almost see the squares on both OS X text and browser text)
** UPDATE ** SOLVED **
My Hackintosh runs stable now and seems to match both CPU and GPU performance of builds on similar hardware. There are minor issues that still exists as well as issues that somehow solved themselves.
If you read this thread through you can see exactly what I did and...
Did you find a solution?
The painfull part for me is that the network card actually does work until I install multibeast :p
EDIT: v2.4.14 worked for me.
There is only a cabled LAN netcard in my PC, no WIFI. Before I install Multibeast at the first boot of OS X I've got internet access and all is well, but not after the first reboot of Multibeast. If this was a Windows installation I'd get a hold of the drivers and reinstall them after running...
But isn't that what I've just done in this guide linked by Adrian? (http://www.tonymacx86.com/general-help/115818-install-bootloader-extra-efi-partition.html)
I can boot now from the HD without the USB Drive :)
The remaining critical problems are:
I have no network (LAN as I don't have Wireless adapter). I took the option closest to my LAN card which is AppleIGB v5.2.9.4 because I read it supported i210 and i211. The LAN card on my motherboard is...
When you write that I should select "Ethernet" codec, which should I choose? Because I can't find it in the motherboard specs.
At the first boot of OS X I have sound (via USB sound card), great picture and everything seems to be running fine already. Could it make sense that I don't actually...
Hmm... If I go to Terminal and type "Diskutil list":
disk1 = partition
Disk1s1 = EFI - EFI
disk1s2 = Apple_HFS - OSX Boot
disk1s3 = Apple_BOOT - Recovery HD
I will try disconnecting everything while I get more input from you guys.
Do you agree with the steps below?
Install OSX Yosemite...
But Raymond, I have no issues with graphics? Except that I can't use DVI and have to use HDMI, which is fine. Why would I target this issue when I do not have it?
