So one of the lingering issues with my recent build is that my ethernet connect seems to periodically fail after waking from sleep. I'm not sure if it happens every time or just after prolonged sleep. Maybe it's kind of random. I'm using the AppleIntelE1000e.kext 3.3.1.2 (from this site's downloads page) because that one seemed to work best for me. I've tried IntelMausiEthernet.kext but that one didn't work for me, I couldn't select Ethernet from a list of services in the Network control panel.

In my console log, after waking I would get the following message:
7/17/16 1:01:02.000 PM kernel[0]: full wake promotion (reason 1) 242 ms
7/17/16 1:01:02.000 PM kernel[0]: AppleIntelE1000e(Err): Hardware Error
7/17/16 1:01:05.000 PM kernel[0]: AppleIntelE1000e(Err): Hardware Error

My board (ASUS Maximus VIII Gene) is an Intel Z170 chipset and it uses the Intel I219-V gigabit LAN. I'm on 10.11.5 El Capitan. Has anyone had a similar problem and found a solution? Thanks.

I recently completed a Skylake build using a GA-Z170X-Ud5 and installed El Capitan. I used Multibeast 8.2.3 to install the Network option AppleIntelIE1000 v3.3. Sleep/wake and ethernet worked perfectly for a few days. For no apparent reason I now have the issue of Ethernet failing upon wake from sleep. I re-ran Multibeast and attempted to install a different Network option, IntelMausiEthernet v2.1.od3, and I get an "Installation Failed" error.

As a possible next step, I downloaded the file for IntelMausiEthernet v2.1.od5 from this Thread. Then I realized I don't know what to do with my download-- I am now in an area of working with kext where I have zero expertise. Simple questions: what do I do with the file I just downloaded and/or how do I resolve my Multibeast installation error relating to changing my Network option? The Multibeast log entry is that Mounting EFI failed. Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you very much, Jim

Hi,

I have almost the same setup as jrhjrhjim. Network card is also not working. The installation was a breeze with all the help from tonymacx86. Audio and network card are still two issues for my setup and I lose the geforce setting after every rebood. I need to make a boot argument with nvda_drv=1 in order to make it run the graphic cart in the PCI slot.
I will post again when I have those issues solved.

Remove AppleIntelE1000e.kext from /Library/Extensions

As a possible next step, I downloaded the file for IntelMausiEthernet v2.1.od5 from this Thread. Then I realized I don't know what to do with my download.

Download KextBeast.

1. Place IntelMausiEthernet.kext on desktop.
2. Run KextBeast installer
3. Select the destination folder:
/Library/Extensions
4. Reboot

BreBo (or anyone else),

Thank you--great, clear instructions. However, after removing the .kext installed via Mulibeast and then using KextBeast installer to install IntelMausiEthernet.kext in Extensions, I now have no ethernet connection, period. This is after Shutdown as well as Restart. Previously the connection was only broken after waking up from Sleep.

I can clearly see that the new .kext is present in Extensions. Any suggestion for my next step?

Thank you, Jim

UPDATE: My Ethernet now has decided to work. All I did is unplug the Ethernet cable for a few moments with the computer turned on and plug the cable back in. I was instantly on the network and Sleep/Wake no longer is causing a loss of network connection.

Thank you for your help. I just wish things like this happened in less mysterious ways. I can only surmise the physical unplugging accomplished a necessary reset.

Jim

FURTHER UPDATE (for whatever it may be worth): It now appears that of the two Ethernet ports on the back of my motherboard, the upper port fully functions. The lower one always indicates that it is unplugged?? I don't think that was always the case, but I have moved so many things around I can't be sure.

The important thing is that I do have one port that is functioning properly now.
