Can't Boot ML 10.8.3, UD5H, I7-3770K, 16GB DDR3

Hello Everybody,

My apologies in advanced if this is a redundant topic, I have spent countless hours searching for an answer to no avail. This is my first Hackintosh and 2nd post, here are my specs:

Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H
Intel Core i7-3770K
EVGA GeForce GT 640 (Removed)
TP-Link PCI Express Wifi Adapter
Sandisk SATA 6Gb/s 120GB SSD
16GB 1600Mhz DDR3
PCI Express Firewire Adapter

I read over all the guides on the page and pretty sure I followed them exactly (Including the ML Guide, and the UEFI Bios Config Page). I installed 10.8.3 via UniBeast ML 1.7 and plugged it into USB 2.0 (Note to others, USB 3.0 Ports didn't work for me if you're getting held up at the USB installer load screen) which loaded the installer. In the Installer I used Disk Utility to set Partition 1 to my SSD, Extended (Journaled), named it "Mountain Lion" and Applied. Once I got the "Installation Complete" splash I restarted my Computer, hit F12 for Boot, Chose Sandisk, and Chose to boot Mountain Lion (from HD). After waiting for hours at the spinning wheel apple splash I finally rebooted and was able to access the Mac Desktop in Safe Mode (-x)... and this is where I've stopped. I've tried booting normally from HD but it never works, is this something I have to change in MultiBeast (and can I do that in Safe Mode)? My assumption is yes as your guide says its the only way to make the OS bootable from a HD.

I know this is very vague and I'll upload a screenshot of the error I get in Verbose Mode tonight (Something to do with Power Management needing more MAH, and final line of code I believe is [IOBluetoothHCIController][Start] -- Completed. Thanks again in advance:)

BTW... I've heard a lot of people recommending I disable VT-D in the Bios, is this available on the I7-3770K or on the UD5h? I can't recall seeing this option in the Bios. Also, I did notice when I was asked to setup an account when I booted from HD in safe mode my wifi was detecting my network, so something is working. I'll keep editing this post either until somebody chimes in with their 2 cents or I reach a solution.

Alright, so here is the screen I get stuck at when I try to Boot up from my SSD Drive (Which is plugged into SATA3 on my MB).

Again, I can get ML 10.8.3 to load in safe mode by typing -x but I can't get it to boot normally. Please bear with me as this is my first computer build, let alone a hackintosh.

This is my build stripped down to the minimum:

Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H (F14)
Intel Core i7-3770K
Sandisk SATA 6Gb/s 120GB SSD
16GB 1600Mhz DDR3

These are the steps I've taken (From Tonymacx86 guide & UEFI Bios Settings) and I have erased my SSD and hit F7 to load Optimized Bios and start over:

1. Purchased 10.8.3 from App Store, Installed to Flash via Unibeast for ML 1.7.0, and moved MultiBeast for ML 5.2.1 to USB (Didn't
Check Legacy or Laptop).
2. Prep'd Bios for Hackintosh according to TonyMac' UEFI Guide (XHCI Set to Auto, XHCI/EHCI Handoff is Enabled, Init Display 1st set
to IGFX, Internal Graphics at 64MB, Hi Precision Event Timer is Enabled, Wake on Lan is Disabled, and set boot to PO... 1st, USB
2nd, and disabled 3rd).
3. Plugged 8GB Flash drive into USB 2 Port and Booted to Installer Screen.
4. Partitioned SSD w/ GUID Partition and Mac OS Ext (Journaled), named Mountain Lion and applied. Install Completed Successfully.
5. Restart Computer, Hit F12 and choose USB (Mine doesn't say USB-HDD... not sure if that matters)... From the Chimera Screen I
choose Mountain Lion and it gives me a gray Apple Load Screen and keeps spinning (AND THIS IS WHERE I'M STUCK).

Things I tried (Aside from booting in Safe Mode):
- GraphicsEnabler=No
- npci=0x3000
- PCIRootUID=0
- -v (Gets me the screenshot above)
- -x (Loads Desktop in Safe Mode, only thing working)
- Booted into Safe Mode & followed the Post Install Instructions but when I restarted it just auto started
and froze at the load screen, this time without a spinning wheel.

PLEASE IF ANYBODY CAN OFFER ANY REASSURANCE, WISDOM, WHAT HAVE YOU I'D BE VERY GREATFUL.

Does 10.8.3 work with SSD, did I maybe plug SSD into wrong port? Is there a Kext I have to Delete or a Plist to edit (briefed myself on this via youtube video)... anything to get the ball rolling. Thanks in advance for all the help:)

Did you successfully install MultiBeast? If so, can you at least boot your new installation in safe mode?

same deal with me... this stinks followed guides to the t. although I'm running z77x-UP5th 12e with a windows partition

Hey Dougr33, Yes I was able to boot into safe mode and it even detected my wireless network during the account setup (indicating my PCI Wifi Card was working). When I ran multibeast according to the Post Installation section of the guide for... wait, I think I may have chosen the Sandy Bridge settings by mistake... haha, der:clap: (before it froze on reboot and I had to remove my drive, change my boot order, wipe it clean, and reinstall). I'll try again and re-edit this post. BRB.

Alright so when I rebooted w/ -v it took me to an Error 0xe000404f along with some others (I'll post some more screenshots showing I got to the Mac Desktop in safe mode tomorrow). Other than that... when I power off/on my monitor gets no signal (this is after trying the settings in multibeast). I've seen others running this same build so I know its possible, anybody out there that can shed some light, maybe it's due to the update, idk. Anyways, gonna reformat this SSD AGAIN and try from scratch, have another few attempts, gonna chill off multibeast for now tho since it seems to only f*** things up. TBC.....:problem:

Alright I Just Followed this guide as well (as he had a similar MB and I believe same Processor). Anyways, didn't work... followed his bios to a T... now I popped my wifi card back in so I'm going to try and Dload the latest Chimera to USB and try again. *Fingers Crossed*

Just so you know I'm typing this part in bold from my hackintosh in Safe Mode w/ my wifi card (I noticed in Safari that when I open up a new tab the top sites page flickers... something to deal with in Multibeast I suppose for later?) Anyways, I just keep updating in case anybody else is interested and also to keep a log of my setup. TTFN, gonna try chameleon now (not sure if I open it and install to USB or if I load it in USB and then boot it... will find oat).

FIXED IT!!! One second while I s*** myself out of excitement *&^(*&#$%(*#@$%)... Anyways, I just wanna thank all the support *Insert a touch of sarcasm* but the fix *Insert Drum Roll* was updating chameleon Chimera by dloading and installing to your bootable USB (As the copy in multibeast is a lil outdated)... so now that I'm finally out of safe mode it's on to the next one.

*Note to self, shutdown restarts computer... any help?*

cahedger,

I'm a first build newbie as well, have a similar setup and can not get my wifi card working or graphics card. Would you please share your multibeast settings with me?

Thank you

Fixed the WiFi card issue.

Still cannot get Graphics card to work other than in safe mode. So, I know I am missing something in MultiBeast.

Settings I have checked...

UserDSDT or DSDT-Free Installation

Drivers - Audio - Realtek ALC8xx -Without DSDT - ALC898

Disk - 3rd Party Sata and TRIM Enabler - 10.8.1+ Trim Patch

Miscellaneous - FakeSMC and FakeSMC Plugins - Motherboard Plugins and HWMonitor Application

Network - hnak's AppleIntelE1000e Ethernet

Bootloaders - Chimera

Customization - Graphics Enabler=No

Hopefully someone can see the error in my ways....... Thanks

Hey SnoLuvr,

I'm glad you got your wifi card working, mine was pretty much plug and play (no multibeast changes as of yet on this boot, taking one step at a time lol) once I followed these bio settings and updated Chimera to 2.0.1 (you may want to do this as well if you haven't already). As for the graphics card I literally removed everything but the wifi card so I could dload chimera and check multibeast, so I haven't checked it yet (but once I get home and play around with it I'll post any uptdates, let me know if anything changes for you as well).

BTW saw your gfx card and this article on the front of the tonymac site... haven't read through it yet so not sure what it entails but here you go... good luck:)
