Known problem with DRM content, see this thread (and many others) for details :

i had this issue back in Mountain Lion on my main hack Z77-DS3H Core i7 3770 and how i got around this was downgrade iTunes so maybe heres what u could do either build a cheap Ivy hack and put Mountain Lion on it and don't update iTunes only problem you won't have is Apple Music but movies and trailers will work tho ;)

hey guys I've just tried Apple Music Videos in iTunes and seems to be working fine for me? this is a Ivy Bridge hack

It seems a difficult problem to solve... :( Hopefully soon have a solution.

Thanks again

you got my hopes up for a minute there bamford

i played an iTunes music video and no problems so went into iTunes Movies and played a trailer but all i got was a green screen and an audio track

i'll have to stick with Google Play and Wuaki TV then.

Not sure if anybody cares but, I got tired of trying to get the 2600k SB/Z68/HD3000 to play iTunes 1080p DRM, so I went out to the local Beast Buy and got a 1GB "Galaxy" Nvidia GT 610. Changed to the MacPro5,1 definition (after deleting the MyTCE kext) Voila---1080p iTunes works perfectly in 10.9.1. And Toleda's HDMI edits worked perfectly for HDMI audio on this board (not that they didn't on the HD3000 as well). I would've liked to keep the HD3000 and the $20 or so I spent (had a gift card leftover from Christmas), because using the integrated graphics uses the least amount of power, but the GT610 is a nice alternative, and it barely uses any extra power over the HD3000 apparently (from my UPS watt meter).

Not sure what my issue is. I even did a clean reinstall of Mavericks with Unibeast and the like, and still no luck; iTunes videos would still either give me the pink artifact screen (using a MacbookPro8,1 definition, where the hardware renderer was working perfectly) or would play perfectly for 10 seconds then go black and stop (using a system def where the hardware assist did not load, such as MacPro3,1).

But whatever---just for any of those who got fed up like me---go get a cheap nvidia card if you can afford to. Problem solved in an instant.

There is no known solution yet for playing protected content on Ivy/Haswell system yet. Even doing a rollback to older versions of iTunes don't work for most people myself included.

This has been an issue since 11.0.1 so not sure how you had it working a few weeks ago.

I think I've made some progress here.

My hack (with an intel xeon 1246v3 3.5ghz cpu) has an integrated intel hd p4600 and a discrete nvidia gt 730, both connected to the same monitor, with the p4600 using a displayport cable and the nvidia a dvi cable.

The situation is as the follows.

1. Boot with the GT 730 (with nvidia web driver), with the hd p4600 disabled. I can't play any purchased videos in iTunes. Nothing happens when I click to play a HD movie. Also, if I play a mp4 movie with Quickime, it's OK, but I noticed that a process called 'VTdecoderXPCService' will appear and runs happily up to 30% CPU time.

2. Boot with the integrated HD P4600 (using FakePCIID kexts), with the nvidia card enabled (don't write nv_disable=1 in your boot args). I can play purchased HD videos in iTunes, but only with audio, video still does not work. If I play a mp4 movie now, I found out that this 'VTdecoderXPCService' is gone, and my CPU is generally idle. It seems hardware accelerated video playback is working?
