Any ideas why After Effects CS6 v.11.01.12 won't recognize my card? I have CUDA Driver Version 5.0.24 installed

Did you applied the OpenCL patch from Netkas/Multibeast?

Hi,
I have the same problem.

There is a solution, but i'm not sure it will be really working.

A few days ago, Adobe gave an update of Premiere with GTX680 CUDA support.
After Effects will come after, in a few days/weeks i think.

I'm downloading Premiere, but as i am a student Adobe Cloud client, i only have a premiere pro family version.

Here what i found :

Premiere Pro CS6

1) Need to run GPUSniffer. Open Terminal Window and copy and paste this command:

/Applications/Adobe\ Premiere\ Pro\ CS6/Adobe\ Premiere\ Pro\ CS6.app/Contents/GPUSniffer.app/Contents/MacOS/GPUSniffer

2) Open Terminal Window and copy and paste this command:

sudo nano /Applications/Adobe\ Premiere\ Pro\ CS6/Adobe\ Premiere\ Pro\ CS6.app/Contents/cuda_supported_cards.txt

After Effects CS6

1) Need to run GPUSniffer. Open Terminal Window and copy and paste this command:

/Applications/Adobe\ After\ Effects\ CS6/Adobe\ After\ Effects\ CS6.app/Contents/GPUSniffer.app/Contents/MacOS/GPUSniffer

2) Open Terminal Window and copy and paste this command:
sudo nano /Applications/Adobe\ After\ Effects\ CS6/Adobe\ After\ Effects\ CS6.app/Contents/raytracer_supported_cards.txt

Thanks, had the same issue no CUDA in AE (although patch installed) and followed you hint to add the card through terminal,
so added 'Geforce GTX 670' and saved for both text files.

seems to work as now I have CUDA in AE but I do get an error
After Effects error: Ray-traced 3D:initial shader compile failed.

Any clues?

Cheers,

~t

update: upgrade to the latest AE 11.0.1.12 fixes the error

Yesterday Adobe updated Premiere for GTX 680 support.

I don't know how to check it (in preferences it is not the same as in After)

Let's hope After will be updated soon.

Do you have QE/CI ok? Tell me because i don't and i would like to find the way to make it work!

Cheers

I tried doing this and updated the raytracer_supported_cards.txt and got nothing. You mentioned saving to both files? What do you mean both files? I thought this is only asking you to edit one file?

Also, might there be another format other than "GeForce GTX 680"?

Strike that, didn't have Cuda Drivers installed. Just installed 5.0.24. Started up AE and it's working.

Thanks, I've been looking for this fix.. works puuuuurfect on my GTX 580 now.

I just completed my build with GeForce GTX 680 card and ran all of the latest Nvidia drivers for Mountain Lion 10.8.2. I also went through this process outlined below to patch the txt files via terminal. Now CUDA does show up in Premiere Pro and After Effects but I cannot play any video whatsoever within Premiere Pro. Has anyone experienced this or do you know of a solution? I feel like I'm so close as I have everything working very well other than this one issue, but this is a biggie because its whole reason why I built this machine: Video Editing. Also (and this is an odd one) When I try to run the effect Warp Stabilizer on a clip it just sits there thinking about it but does nothing else. ???
Any idea for this situation?
