[Success] GIGABYTE Z370 Gaming 7 + Intel Core i7-8700K + RX 580 + (2x) Dell P2715Q 4k @ 60Hz

Your original install was 10.13.4? If so that difference might have indeed been the culprit on my end so you might want to edit the original post to include that info.

It looks like that macOS version info was included in the "about this Mac" screenshot later in the post. It may be better though, to put that closer to the start of the guide so everyone is on the same page. Many User Builds state the macOS version used directly after the components list.

Great suggestion!

I just updated the start of the guide to include both the About this Mac screen shot, and a note about using a fresh install of macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 or later to ensure compatibility. Can't hurt to note this just to be safe.

Getting ever closer here guys! Apparently my High Sierra installation file was 10.13.1 (downloaded when I updated my laptop a while back). Using the latest from the app store (10.13.5) seems to have resolved the issues with the RX580 - now full recognized in the system! Did another clean installation and seems to be working - faster boot times, GPU recognized. Still on the hunt for issues that might be lurking beneath the surface, but all is well so far!

@HackaShaq - just saw your post about the update which is awesome. Sounds like your original install was 10.13.4? If so that difference might have indeed been the culprit on my end so you might want to edit the original post to include that info. If you do go back to edit the post, note the the APFS language section makes a reference to Clover Configurator and I think you might just mean Clover (as in the bootloader)?

"On your next reboot, that verbose text will be gone and your Mac should reboot cleanly into Clover Configurator."

Thanks for posting such a great build and guide!
Hey, @kpbenoit! Yes, my initial install was a fresh install of 10.13.4. Just to be safe, I have updated the start of the guide to note this, and a fresh install of 10.13.4 or later would work fine. Great suggestion, and thanks for the feedback. Hopefully that will help others.

Thanks for the catch of the wording for ""On your next reboot, that verbose text will be gone and your Mac should reboot cleanly into Clover Configurator." I have updated this text to say the boot loader now in the build. Thanks again!

I can confirm that the installation with latest 10.3.5 including security updates is safe.

I didn't have any problem and all the process was like a real Mac.

Yup, me too. The 10.3.5 update felt just like a real Mac here as well. Smooth sailing.

I've tried a test to see why you @HackaShaq and @jimmakos01 and others are getting slow results using Geekbench 4 compared to my system.

What I did was slow my RAM down to 2666MHz from 3600MHz.

Results are: SC 5782 & MC 26822 (My original results were 6179 and 28946 respectively @ stock 3.7GHz).

My take on this is GB is more geared to memory throughput than outtright CPU speed.

Cheers.

My score at 5GHz (30500) with 16GB @ 3000Mhz i believe is ok. Maybe if i had 32GB or ram, the score will be 31.500.

But i am ok with these results. Next step to delid my cpu for better temperatures.

Paul Cato ? Weren't you in some of those movies with Peter Sellers back in the 70s ?

Enjoyed your Hackintosh Garage video, very entertaining.
