[Guide] Acer aspire 5755G/5750G El Capitan UEFI Clover

Thanks for all your help. I figured since I couldn't get clover to work with a El Capitan install USB I was better off not upgrading it Via the Macstore or direct download of my Macbook Air and bringing it over.

FINALLY I was able to get the installer to run. Through RehabMan's magic and his various USB kexts and playing with the configurator I got it to work. So I went ahead and just installed El Capitan to a new partition and deleted the the Yosemite one.

Not (yet) a perfect setup. I need to get the battery and sound working. But I have a usb/bluetooth speaker that works fine for the sound and I have the Acer hooked up to 1080p display for the time being. Getting iMessage running is my next goal. Then its getting the native Acer display to run. For some reason it isn't registering. I looked into iRorg* and got the EDID and will attempt to fiddle with them later. Brain is overloaded with learning so much about how stuff works, but that is a good thing and it is why we do what we do. Ill post back with my results. But, truly, thanks a lot guys.

Hi sbeaber4

Glad you have got your system up and running. The acer display was a problem for me and as I detailed in the guide ensure:

In the Clover Configurator Graphics: Tick 'patch VBios' only..... this sorted my display problem out!

Part 16 of the El Capitan guide states: (Optional) At Graphics Configuration screen choose the appropriate graphics option for your system and click Continue. If you added this to your boot usb then you will get no display - I had many re-boots (being new as well to all this) before I got it sorted.

See if the above applies, and if not get back and i'll see if I can assist further.

I do not know what is wrong with the laptop sound side of things as the two files i used (installed to the System/Library/extensions) worked for me. I will see if i can do any digging around..I have attached the DPCIManager. do a screen shot of what it comes up with and upload back for us to have a look.

anyway keep the dialogue open, as i am sure there are others out there with similar problems....

Have a look at the guide 'solutions' for El Capitan install, there is a solution posted for this kind of error.

The Akbar upgrade gives you access to UEFI mode (Clover install) which is what the guide was created for. There are other guides using Chameleon around which may serve your purpose better. But trust me, I have not had any of the problems i used to have after I changed to Clover. OSX updates are a breeze now!

Clover can be installed legacy as well as UEFI.

Anyone able to boot Clover on a HDD while having Windows installed on the same drive?

I have already tried to use the UEFI Shell inside Clover for my problem but just get a black screen.

After disabling the VBIOS Patch everything was working fine for me. You should try the same.
