So I checked out a USB 3.1 thread. Looks like some PCI cards worked in 10.10.5, but not El Cap. I didn't see anything regarding built in support. So that leads me to believe that if and when El Cap support comes it will be for cards as well.

Meaning the board I buy doesn't have to have 3.1.

I was looking at the X99M-WS, but it's M2 is supposedly slow / throttled.

Is there anything out there comparable to the Deluxe, but cheaper? Or should I bite the bullet and buy it? Need to order ASAP.
I see prices on amazon.it and it seems that x99-A and x99-Pro version are cheaper than the Deluxe. X99M-ws it's a new one...i wouldn't buy it!

Read a review on Newegg that said the $249 Asus X99A "fried" his processor. Said to Google it. It's a known issue. That's terrifying.

Damn.

Then buy the Pro version :D

I use definition MAC PRO 5,1 because i have not patchet AppleGraphicsControl.kext
It will help if I use a MAC PRO 6.1 definition??

I could not manage that part of the manual:

Step 1: Go to…
System/Library/Extensions
Step 2: Delete AppleGraphicsControl.kext
Step 3: In KextWizard click on Installation tab
- Browse for patched AppleGraphicsControl.kext and select it
- Destination = System/Library/Extensions
- Target disk = Yosemite
Step 4: Hit install
Step 5: Change Bios to MacPro 6,1
Step 6: In KextWizard under maintenance tab repair your permissions and rebuild cache.

Where can I download the patch AppleGraphicsControl.kext?

To patch the AppleGraphicsControl.kext you need AGDPFix utility...this utility will patch the kext!

I just ordered my new gear. Hopefully it will all arrive tomorrow.

5930K
MSI X99 SLI - thenightflyer, I saved $180 over the Asus.
32GB (2 X 16GB) Ripjaws 2400
H100i GTX cooler

I have a GTX 970
A new 1250 Seasonic PSU
CM690 case (1st Gen), hence not getting the 110i GTX cooler.

I was really debating going Skylake. Had the 6700K been in stock, I think I might have done it

Every choice depends on personal budget...i think you will setupa a good build, not so powerful but enought for your purposes.

X99 has four-channel memmory controller so you need 4x8GB DDR4

Damn. Thanks for letting me know. I would have been chasing my tail.

Specifically 8GB? Not just 4 of the same capacity? I'd rather 4 X 16GB. The board's specs says it takes up to 128GB, so I'm hoping the 16GBs will work when I have all four.

Fingers crossed that Newegg can overnight another pair. Might be too late.

HI!!
In your opinion this chipset will support the new OS El Captain or I'll be limited to use Mavericks forever?

Thanks you!!!
