Hi everyone I'm planning to build my first rig.
I want to build one with these specs:
intel core i7 3770k - Intel Core i7-3770K Quad-Core Processor 3.5 GHz 8 MB Cache LGA 1155 - BX80637I73770K
ASrock DRR3 2600 intel LGA 1155 Z77 OC formula ASRock DDR3 2600 Intel LGA 1155 Motherboards Z77 OC FORMULA
Kingston Hyperx Beast 2400 Mhz 2x4gb Kingston HyperX Beast 8 GB Kit (2x4 GB) 2400MHz DDR3 PC3-19200 Non-ECC CL11 DIMM XMP Desktop Memory KHX24C11T3K2/8X
MSI GTX 660 TI Power Edition
Gigabyte
http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Overvoltage-N660TI-PE-2GD5/dp/B008SBX6GI

My question is how well does this motherboard work, and if this GPU is completely compatible with Mountain Lion. and is this RAM (2400mhz) compatible with it.

The reviews on Amazon look good for that board. What is it you will be doing with this build ??
Will you be overclocking for gaming ? I've always used G.Byte boards for CustoMacs but Asus,
Asrock and MSI are the other "big 3" used by forum members. Looks like the audio chip and
lan should be compatible with OS X. GPU should be fine. I've never overclocked a customac
so I cannot comment on the ram over clocking.

Thank you for your reply, I want a CustoMac so that I can use mac os x for processing, like converting videos, making/editing videos, some 3d and photoshop. Thats why I really want the 3770k. I already have a Macbook Pro 15" 2.4 Sandy Bridge but while I process medium loads my Macbook gets higher than 220 F. I'm already used to Mac OS X for about 2 years now, so I don't want to go back to windows but the budget doesn't give me enough money for a more powerful Mac system. I will also have windows for gaming though, thats why I want to have that gpu, I might overclock the GPU whenever I need it (in windows of course). I read in other threads and there aren't such motherboards that will work with this stock 2400mhz ram, so I'll just stick with 1600 :)

My question is how well does this motherboard work

simple answer: that board will work, and work well.

longer answer: the current install methods are identical across all the major board manufacturers. two of the main things to look for on a motherboard is that the lan and audio chips are supported in osx. with the board you have listed, they are.
the main difference between gigabyte and the other brand boards using uefi is that the other brands require a patched bios (read https://biosrepo.wordpress.com/faq/ for more info on why).
thats the only difference nowadays. if you buy an msi or an asus board for example, and flash a patched bios, it becomes the same in terms of osx compatibility (as long as lan/audio/etc chips are supported) and installation as a gigabyte board.

however, asrock boards have one additional 'hurdle' over the other brands, in that they need a dsdt edit for sleep to work properly. this isnt a difficult thing to do, its pretty simple to do (there is a guide on how to do it, and even nice users like 'MiniITX' will actually do the edit for you), but for some this can be seen as an annoyance, when the other brands do not need this (sortve why go for asrock when you can go for any of the others which dont need it- some also think that about the need for patched bioses on non-gigabyte boards ).

so, if you dont want to do a dsdt edit for sleep, go with gigabyte, asus, msi, biostar, intel, zotac.......

if you dont want to flash a patched bios, go with gigabyte.

if you dont mind about either, stick with the asrock

hope that answers your q

Thank you so much I wanted this one mainly because it has 4-way SLI, with the info you provided me I'm going to research a little bit more into the boards to see how hard it is (to me) to do those things. If not I'll just get a Gigabyte Motherboard.

i am also going to purchase this motherboard but I havnt Ben able to find any guides or anything to do it. If I patch the bios and modify the dsdt should it all work fine? Also will I need specific files for the patching of the bios. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
