Hello, all. I'm asking whether anybody has attempted to put OSX10.10 (Yosemite) on a Dell 1525. Extremely old, yes I know, but I had upgraded to yosemite on my macbookPro15, and found the user interface improvements to be solid. Therefore, out of curiosity, I wanted to try rescuing an old winXP Dell 1525 to OSX. I'm a newbie, with several failed hackintosh attempts under my belt (both using a VM and actual laptop hardware). I could have either looked up an old retail mavericks image, or try this new one.

- Given my lack of knowledge, is it even worth researching how to do this with clover? (http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks...ow-install-os-x-mavericks-using-clover.html)? or should i stick to unibeast install + multibeast post-install
?
The closest thing I see in searches is a Mavericks setup guide which purportedly half works. http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks...i-working-mavericks-dell-inspiron-1525-a.html

other than that, happy hackintoshing, all.

Edit: I'll put as much as I know about the system specs (copied from speccy):
CPU: Intel Pentium T2390 @ 1.86Ghz (Merom 65nm, 2 cores x 2 threads)
GPU: intel 965 mobile express
HD: 250GB SATA hitachi HD
RAM: 3GB DDR2
Motherboard: dell 0U990C, 965GM chipset, 82801 HBM (ICH8-ME) southbridge Rev B0
Monitor: 1280x800
DVD: Optiarc DVD+-RW AD-7580A
network: Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-Card (research would indicate it's a broadcom 4xxxx chip)

Provide details on the hardware, especially the graphics...

Please provide complete details in your profile/signature
(Profile/Settings link in upper right corner of this site)

System: manufacturer/model
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
System: HP ProBook 4540s
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx), and graphics capabilities. For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

Understood -- will make the edits to my signature/profile. in the meantime, have made the edit to the original post.

Find out the device-id for your graphics chip. You can get a listing in Linux Terminal with 'lspci -nn'.
