Ok. Now I can get the Yosemite to load with the following command whereas before the screen would shut off after the boot screen.
the command i used:
bootflag: -x nv_disable=1

now on the nvidia web site using safari, which version of the driver do I get? Windows 7/8/vista? 64 or 32 bit? And will it download to the Mac OS downloads folder? How do I go about updating the graphics card with the new web driver

any help is much appreciated.
thanks.

Download Web Driver for your OS X version. Downloaded file will be on downloads folder. Just install it. and reboot with flag "nvda_drv=1 -f"

When I go to the nvidia site and go to drivers page I do not see mac osx option in the manual search area. I must be looking in the wrong place. Can anyone direct me to specific place or options to choose to get the driver I need.
thanks

ok guys,
i went to that page/link: Solving NVIDIA driver install problems
there i was able to get through problems 1,2,3, but when i got to problem 4, i ran into a problem.
i cannot find this file: "Info.plist", therefore i cannot edit it and this problem 4 is one of the issues i'm having.
any ideas?
thank you for the help so far.

Why you want to go for that?? Use System Definition iMac 14,2

Am I still able to change the system definition? If so, where do I do that? However, if I wanted to continue as I'm currently setup, how or where would I find that file so I can edit it?
thank you

Yes, you can change the system definition with MultiBeast.

If you are having black screen while booting then use flags "dart=0 nv_disable=1 -f -v"

I thought more about it after the post and realized that multi beast was how I set the system definition. Thank you for reply though. I did change it to 15,1. But my biggest issue now is that I cannot boot without the screen turning off. I've been using boot flag: -x nv_disable=1 and that gets the job done but I'd like to set this up to default to the nvidia card. What that tells me is that the system is not set to use the nvidia card. Where do I go to see if the nvidia card is set to the default?
