I did a fresh install of Yosemite on my P55M-UD2 and everything is working perfectly, including sleep, audio, and graphics, but the computer doesn't shut down or restart. It goes through the OS X shut down/restart animation, screen fades to black (as if it were about to turn off or restart) but then the computer just remains on and nothing happens.

Any ideas of how to fix this?

I'm experiencing the same issue but not all the time. Furthermore, my installation went well except that I'm getting a BIOS checksum error (resetting to default config) prior to the bootloader screen. I'm able to boot after reconfiguring the BIOS again. Do you know how we can avoid this error? My MOBO is GA-P55M-UD2 Award BIOS v F11 with Nvidia 640 GT card.

To fix the BIOS reset on the P55M-UD2, you need to install the "AppleRTC Patch for CMOS Reset" in MultiBeast (It's under Drivers > System). That'll stop the resets. And make sure your BIOS is set correctly again, since it was reset.

I think my shut down/restart issue is sporadic as well. It worked last night and I hadn't made any changes.

will that also work for ga-z68x-ud3h-b3? i also can't shut down or restart. just get a black screen with a spinning wheel.

It really depends on your configuration, I'm not well-versed in any motherboard other than mine. Do you use a DSDT? If so, try the AppleRTC patch. Though this didn't necessarily solve my shut down/restart issues, I need it either way to prevent the BIOS resetting.

If you don't use a DSDT, there are other patches in MultiBeast for enabling shut down/restart on non-DSDT systems (EvOreboot comes to mind).

i use a dsdt. i tried that patch and no change. still won't restart. also, when i power it off like that, when it comes back up i get the "you shut down your computer because of a problem" pop-up.

Hmm, I don't get any errors when shutting down or restarting. They just never complete. Your issue is probably different than mine, try searching around for your motherboard on here and Google. I'm sure others have had the problem before.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

got really hopeful for a second. oh well. i'm sure someone else will have this problem and will know what to do about it. i have a pretty common mother board.

Odd, no restart/shutdown issues here. Using the site's dsdt. The only issue I have is it'll sometimes wake up for a few seconds on it's own, then go back to sleep.

I am also running a p55m-ud2, and was wondering if you had any issues with Safari?

Everything (except iMessage) appears to be working fine on my build except Safari seems to be flashing different parts of websites that contains a cursor. It is quite frustrating!

I thought I would check with you before asking the community as a whole about this weirdness.

To be clear, if a website contains a search box, or login box, or anything that lets you type into then various sections of the page flash in time with the cursor. the area of the page seems to be random and always flashes a white box which sometimes covers the text. also edits to the text don't show properly. I have also noticed a similar thing inside the app store when I am updating software.
