A few years ago I set my hackintosh up to dual boot OS X and Windows 8. I still primarily used OS X until one day it just failed on me. Since I was in the middle of a bunch of work that I could continue working on in Windows, I just switched over and never got around to going back to fix OS X.

Since I was dual booting to two partitions on a single hard drive, I am now wanting to delete the OS X partition to free up the space to allocate to the Windows partition. Essentially, I don't have the time to tear my computer apart and am looking for the simplest solution and I am wondering if I delete the OS X partition, will it have any adverse effects. Right now when I turn on my computer, I get to the chimera interface, hit a key and select Windows and my assumption (please correct me if I'm wrong since it's been a while since I installed everything) is that chimera is on its own partition that won't be affected by deleting the OS X partition.

Thanks!
Dan

This is one of the main reasons I always recommend a separate drive for each OS.

What is the structure of your HDD?
If it is EFI partition-Windows partition-OS X partition then you can delete the OS X partition with the Windows disk management tool and either create/format a new partition or extend your Windows partition to include the free space.

If it is EFI-OS X-Windows, then your choices are not so simple.
You can do a complete re-install with all the time lost to productive work that will entail.

Or, you can clone your Windows partition to a separate HDD/SDD using the software provided in a SSD migration kit like http://www.amazon.com/OCZ-Technology-Upgrade-Software-OCZSSDUPGDKIT1/dp/B00829J01Q/ and then just wipe your old drive and use it for storage.

Or, you can use the MS backup utility to create an image of your Windows partition, boot your Windows install DVD, use it to delete all the partitions, create a single new partition, format it and restore the image to the clean drive.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, had I been using a case with room for more than one drive I would have done it that way. I appreciate your advice!
