I finally got OS X installed.
But not without 6 hours of messing around.

Specs are over there
<---
I only have 1 hard drive with Windows 7 installed, as per http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/11/ ... -snow.html

I tried all different iBoot versions, all burned to a CD RW, but all of them were text-only. Like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoXUz0pvPoI

While I was not using a retail dvd, I burned an image of retail dvd (used to have the dvd, then sold it - long story) to a 8GB USB drive, and installed Chameleon, and QOOPZ kernel as per http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2009/11/ ... etail.html

My bios was set to ahci, and hpet was 64 bit
To boot to the installer I had to use iBoot. The installer would run, say it failed, I'd restart, but when I went back to iBoot and instead tried to boot from the installed OS X, the computer would immediately go black and restart. Safe mode did nothing.

What I finally figured out to do was boot back to the installer, use terminal to copy DSDT, boot, mach_kernel, and Extra from the USB.

Finally, to boot to the installed OS X, i had make the computer boot to the USB (which had chameleon installed) and then from there select the installed OS X.

I'm glad I finally got it installed, but what made it so difficult for me?

I think the iBoot problem is a very interesting, I am certainly no authority on that. I have been going through these forums for a few days though (long story), and think that if you had read a little more, understood a little more, or just had read the correct instruction page you would have had less trouble. People who know more feel free to tell me I am wrong, but I think that was the only issue.

Only took you 6 hours? Some people after three months are still having problems installing. :lolno:
At least you got it working.

the installer shouldn't fail with your i5. did you try iboot supported?

I'm fairly sure I used the nVidia iBoot...maybe that was the problem.

I'm definitely happy I got it working though, and I hope my post will be a bit helpful for others perhaps. Ah...the life of a hackintosher...

if you were to do it again, use iboot supported. it isn't really necessary to use nvidia with your setup + you get a vanilla kernel.

the life of a hackintosher should be as easy as it gets (with the help of iboot and multibeast!)
