This seems to be a trouble with permissions. Boot using a installer dvd(eg. SL) and using disk ultility, repair the disk and permissions.

Also you might like to try with installing a previous version of Chimera.

Thanks, I will try these suggestions.

I see you're running a dell N5010, are you running SL or Lion and what step by step install method are you using?
Do you have full functionality and if so what kexts or multibeast options are you using?

Any help would be appreciated to get my system (specs below) running.

Thanks,

System Specs:
CPU: Core i3 M370 2.4GHz
MEM: 4GB
BT: Dell 365 BT Module
GPU: ATI HD550v 1GB
CAMERA: Integrated Web Cam
WIFI: Dell DW1501
NIC: Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller 10/100
AUDIO: IDT HD Audio & ATI HD Audio

Had the same problem on my N5010, nothing after DSMOS has arrived basically, and it was due to Graphics Output being on VGA instead of LVDS (internal LCD). Try booting -x or remove all of your ATI kexts via Terminal from your Install Disc.

I used Maldon's USB method for a fresh install, as xMove was failing for reasons still unknown. For the guide:
Code:
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=256729

After installation:

With multibeast, I couldnt get my trackpad or keyboard to work, and also was getting errors on improper installation of AppleACPIPlatform.kext. So i manually installed kexts from kexts.com

Dell DW-1501 wifi card just wont work. So i got a ASUS 167g V3 USB stick from eBay, and have been using that.

For graphics, we have a different card, mine being a ATI 5470 512mb. While Chimera QE/CI worked, but the EDID of lcd has to be injected manually, to get the laptop screen to work. Without the EDID it was totally blank. For EDID follow this:

Code:

This is a solution for you as well, ThEDaMn3d

Already using the solution from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index. ... pic=262286, since I got a HD5650 on my N5010, but thanks anyway. :)

Also experienced problems with xMove, on my installation it did not copy the FakeSMC, Ev0Reboot, Patched_10.7_AppleRTC and NullCPUPowerManagement kexts. I copied them manually to the USB stick and still installing with that stick QE/CI did not work (EDID was gotten correctly and I had 1366x768 resolution, but no QE/CI), although I'm still not sure why. Using Maldon's I had proper QE/CI and resolution.

Thanks for all this info, I will try these methods and let you know how I get on.

If any one else has their N5010 running Lion please let me know your method also.

Thanks again :D
