No, you don't need to disable/remove a Firewire kext for FW to work. What card do you have?

That's what I thought. But it doesn't seems to pick up my MOTU 828 mkII. I downloaded drivers for it, but it doesn't get picked up in sound preferences. Any advice?

Don't update to Sierra yet. The NVMeGeneric.kext and RehabMan's nvme-patcher don't work with the latest Sierra GM release.
