News this morning from a couple of sites, suggesting 320 motherboards will support 5000 series Ryzen processors. Not all processors are supported so best to check manufacturer sites for the latest info.

Doing some more reading on this and found that Gigabytes GA-A320M-H (Rev. 1, 2 & 3) and GA-A320-S2H (Rev. 1, 2 & 3) both have the BIOS update for adding Vermeer and Renoir processors.

This video is two years old now, but it's interesting to see the the results from an A320 motherboard and R5 3600.

For those with concerns about pairing a 300 (AM4) board with a Ryzen 9 5950X. 5, yes 5Ghz!

AMD will unleash it's new socket this year, FM5 and Ryzen 7000 series desktop CPUs will be here. This week, news has leaked from a range of 'u-huh to, that sounds promising' sources of AMDs last hurrah for the 5000 series.

'Chagall' AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000 WX-Series, with up-to 64 cores. An update to the Zen-2 powered Threadripper Pro 3000 series, which has dominated the market in the past two years, AMD claim to have 60% of the North American Workstation Market. The Mac Studio is Apples response.

April 20 we'll see AMDs Ryzen 7 5800X3D, eight cores. 3.4 - 4.5 GHz, not over-clockable interestingly, $449. AMD have been talking up the '3D V-Cache' and it's advantages in gaming. They've done some clever tile stacking inside the processor, to get a whopping 96MB of L3 Cache, that's music to a gamers ears, good price point too.

Also of interest in the Tomshardware article was this Facebook post that claimed to verify the existence of more AMD processors, two of which are based on Zen 2.

Completed my build using a Ryzen 7 5700X paired with a A320I-K motherboard and Monterey is running beautifully. The 'unofficial' BIOS update 5862 by ASUS and Gigabyte released last November, AMD have since released an 'official' BIOS update, 6024 22/03/15 and 6042 22/05/13. An even more budget friendly AMD CPU has recently been released, the Ryzen 5 4500 priced at $119 on Newegg, haven't seen the 4100 listed yet.

This years nominee for best budget gaming motherboard is... The A320!. Not everyones cup of tea but hear me out!. I read recently the 85% of AMD CPU shipments are for AM4, just look at the best sellers list on Amazon or Newegg, where's Intel?. The 320 chipset has been compatible with Ryzen 5000 since October 2021, so you have a huge choice of CPU's to ponder over. It's easily Hackintoshable and dual boots Windows 11 Pro for some impressive gaming on an aging RX 580!.
