    The original installation media for Mac OS X Snow Leopard was a 10.6 DVD. The DVD was only updated once to version 10.6.3. In order to provide more frequent updates to users, Apple is now slipstreaming the latest version of OS X directly into the download. Upon fresh installation, no updating is necessary! ...

    The first phase when booting OS X is the bootloader which takes over from the BIOS/UEFI to load the operating system. There have been various open-source bootloader projects over the years for OS X, with the Chameleon project being the most commonly used. Within the Chameleon project, which is based upon Apple's Boot-132 code, there are numerous branches including MacMan's Chimera. Because of the widespread adoption of UEFI on modern motherboards, alternate bootloaders such as Clover have shown wider appeal, having the capability of booting directly from the UEFI. ...

    With the release of OS X 10.8.3, users have noticed a significant decrease in OpenCL benchmark numbers using LuxMark on NVIDIA 6xx Kepler based video cards. I have done a number of tests, and have concluded that with the new drivers in 10.8.3, the benchmarks are now accurate, whereas in earlier versions of OS X they were not. I will attempt to explain why.
