    4K UI performance Nvidia/AMD

It's great that you guys help eachother out, really, but it'd be great if we could keep this post on-topic. Thanks :)

Solving NVIDIA Driver Install & Loading Problems

Honestly I think using the listed identifiers would be a way easier solution. There's not really a reason to stick with the macpro3,1 in your case since all your components are very recent. Try switching to macpro6,1 and see if the aforementioned solutions get you any further. Never forget to...

    4K UI performance Nvidia/AMD

Ok, so this time the whole HWsensors things went without a hassle. I've been trying some things and the GPU clock speed seems to go up and down as it should. For example, in Logic Pro it bumps up to full clock speed and then quickly goes down to about 4/5th (around 800Mhz), so this seems to be...

    4K UI performance Nvidia/AMD

Alright, thanks. However, I'm kind of weary when it comes to fakeSMC, since the last time I tried to get that to work I killed my setup by simply installing the FakeSMC kext. I'll however give it a try again, since I'm not dependent on my Mac setup for now anyways.

    4K UI performance Nvidia/AMD

I indeed know about the way Apple handles scaling, that's why they give the warning themselves after all. But still, even when not using these scaled resolutions these heavier applications still seem to lag behind. Because I read about this all over the net about real macs too I'm simply afraid...

    4K UI performance Nvidia/AMD

Thank you for your reply. The important question is however: are you using a 4k display?

Solving NVIDIA Driver Install & Loading Problems

Oh I forgot the sudo in front of all the commands! Of course for commands like these that touch system files you need elevated access, so add sudo in front of every command.

    4K UI performance Nvidia/AMD

Hi! I'd like to start a discussion about 4k UI peformance in El Capitan. I've been using a 4K monitor (60hz) paired with a 1080p monitor for a while now, and I'm very disappointed to say the least. Of course, one can't really be disappointed when using a hackintosh since hickups are to be...

Solving NVIDIA Driver Install & Loading Problems

I was having the same problem but I totally forgot about repairing permissions for the modified kexts. Run the following commands in the Terminal after modifying the kext(s): chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/* chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/* chown root:admin / kextcache...

    joan2404’s Build: Core i7 4790K - GA-Z97X-UD3H - 8GB RAM - HD 4600

Looks good! Three quetions arose to my mind: 1. Why limit the system to 8GB memory? 16GB won't cost you that much more, and with 8 gigs your system will be bottlenecked in Blender and the likes, even if you're not professional. 2. A GPU would've drastically improved performance in blender, and...

Which GPU for smooth 4k UI

Hi! Thank you for your reply. I have 32GB RAM installed so I can't imagine that'd be the problem. Temperatures and clockspeeds seem to be normal. Logic can certainly put preassure on the GPU, as soon as you're using +80 instrument tracks, with both the arranger and piano roll window open...

Which GPU for smooth 4k UI

Hi, I recently got myself a 4K monitor for my setup, which now consists of the said 4k screen and a full HD monitor on the side. Everything was looking fine; 60Hz works in combination with the Displayport on my GTX 770 2GB, and all is well one would think. Well, heavier applications...

    Scaled resolutions lag

This just got even weirder: I installed SwitchResX and pushed the 6400x3600 resolution to my monitor (looks awful of course, but for the sake of the experiment) and the whole UI was perfectly smooth, and all my applications ran smooth as butter! Since the 3200x1800 resolution is simply a...

    Scaled resolutions lag

Thank you for your reply! Wow, that seems highly inefficient indeed. However, a card like the GTX 770 shouldn't even have the slightest issue with that anyway. I'm sorry, I should've mentioned that I already am on the latest Nvidia Webdrivers.

    Scaled resolutions lag

Hi, I recently got myself a 4k monitor, it looks absolutely gorgeous and the Mac OS scaling works very well- -until you start scrolling and panning in applications. You see, when I have it running at 4k resolution with no scaling (so everything is tiny) everything works like a charm...

Here's a screenshot of my ioreg in my working Yosemite installation. Maybe that can help you guys figure out what's going on. I attached my DSDT in the first post and my EFI a few posts back.
