Could it also have affected Time Machine? I had no automatic backups, and manual only once after startup; but again that could have been my fault, trying 'tmutil disablelocal' and (don't remember in detail) other stuff. EDIT: works now, may have been cured by a reinstall.

if you click the wifi symbol in the menu bar (enable it in system preferences > network if necessary) while holding the option key you get an entry for wireless diagnosis. maybe that gets you further.
I want to apply my old very unobtrusive fan patch (this one) on the 4740s. It is just RehabMan's patch with different temperature steps. In Chameleon/Mavericks it compiled fine, in Clover/Yosemite I run into errors.

I have, on a 4740s.
Cut the wires at the usb 2.0 port that was not needed for tricky chameleon installs,
added a shielded piece of cable and routed it to above the screen.
There I fixed a tiny Broadcom BT device.

Not when booting/booted from system volume. During boot into Recovery HD there is a brief phase in which slices of the Apple logo are dispersed horizonally.

Please make it an option to deselect. XtraFinder crashes TotalFinder and maybe other little helpers we are accustomed to. It is a nuisance to unistall every time a test installation completed.
And maybe a vertically resizable window would allow a better overview over the installable options...
