Is there any way to use my 7950 without onboard graphics? (I have a older i7 and mobo).

When I try to overclock my i7, and when trying to restore from sleep it can't restore. It seems as my computer tries to restore but fails and tries again and again. This is not a problem however if I don't have any overclock enabled sleep works perfectly. Any help ?
