Intel Network adapters on OS X: Small Tree drivers

Hi all, So it's a little embarrassing that I only now report back to this thread... Lots of work with a complete infrastructure overhaul, ongoing productions and Linux being the primary workstation platform here. Anyways. I just setup the Intel X540-T1 on a fresh Mavericks hackintosh. I...

Intel Network adapters on OS X: Small Tree drivers

Hmm.. I turned of the machine for an hour to see if the card would work again when booted. I haven't changed BIOS or boot the Linux hd, so this machine should act as a pure hackintosh. The SmallTree driver won't work again... Here's the output from system.log, from a successful boot and the...

Intel Network adapters on OS X: Small Tree drivers

Thanks, I will try it out and report back. It might take at least a month before I have a chance to do it though, as we only have one Mac with a production starting up. Ok I see. It happened again today, with the SmallTree driver not recognising the card. The way this system is set up now, I...

Intel Network adapters on OS X: Small Tree drivers

Hi again! Ok, weird thing - when I booted up in OSX today, the Small Tree driver could not recognise the card again... It worked yesterday, and the machine was used with Linux today, so nothing was "touched" on OSX. Anyways, I removed (rm -rf) the FakePCIID* and SmallTree drivers...

Intel Network adapters on OS X: Small Tree drivers

Ok, the "no-one" bundle-id was from the FakePCIID_Intel_X540-AT2.kext Info.plist - I replaced that with "rehabman". I then removed FakePCIID_Intel_X540-AT2.kext from /System/Library/Extensions and reinstalled it with kext utility, and rebooted. FakePCIID now loads, and there's a new...

Intel Network adapters on OS X: Small Tree drivers

Ok, thank you the-darkvoid (and RehabMan of course)! Trying to grep for 'fake' in system-log returned this: Feb 9 18:50:48 Slowmotions-Mac-Pro.local com.apple.kextd[12]: Kext id org.no-one.driver.FakePCIID not found; removing personalities from kernel Here is the new ioreg:

Intel Network adapters on OS X: Small Tree drivers

I inserted the 2 new files with kext utility and rebooted, but system.log still returns: Feb 9 18:50:48 Slowmotions-Mac-Pro kernel[0]: SmallTreeIntel8259x probe b3d0f0: Unsupported Card 0x0002

Intel Network adapters on OS X: Small Tree drivers

Edited my post above, but this should be the relevant line again: Feb 9 18:22:00 Slowmotions-Mac-Pro kernel[0]: SmallTreeIntel8259x probe b3d0f0: Unsupported Card 0x0002

    Got it. Must be the card under "NPE7@3" system.log: Feb 9 18:22:00 Slowmotions-Mac-Pro kernel[0]: SmallTreeIntel8259x probe b3d0f0: Unsupported Card 0x0002 Feb 9 18:22:00 Slowmotions-Mac-Pro kernel[0]: SmallTreeIntel8259x freeResources b3d0f0: Entered freeResources

Intel Network adapters on OS X: Small Tree drivers

Hi again, Firstly, I originally installed the Small Tree driver (SmallTreeIntel8259x-3.1.1.dmg), before seeing this thread, and it did not work. That is, no 10G network card could be found in System Information or Network preferences. I now installed the SmallTreeIntel8259x.kext from your...

Intel Network adapters on OS X: Small Tree drivers

Sorry, I will not do it again. Guess I got a bit excited and wanted to be sure the-darkvoid got the info! Also thank you for pointing out the right device id.

Thank you the-darkvoid !! Here's a snippet from lspci: 03:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Intel Corporation Ethernet Controller 10-Gigabit X540-AT2 [8086:1528] (rev 01) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X540-T1 [8086:0002] .... .... Kernel driver in use...

    Intel X540-AT2 / Other 10GbE cards

I also want to use an X540-T1 on a hackintosh, but unfortunately Small-Tree has changed the device-id which it looks for, so only their models (at over 2x the price) work with the driver... Would be awesome if someone could port the ixgbe driver to mac, like it was done with the e1000 driver...

    StarCraft II with hackintosh

Hi, I'm having an issue where loading a map (campaign) freezes the game, except the mouse. I have to ssh in to the box and kill the SC2 process (running 100% CPU). It happens mostly when loading every second map. If I start the game again I can play the level that crashed on loading earlier...

    Diablo III Incompatible with Hackintosh.

Just played a couple of hours of D3, runs nicely here and no problems - only with Blizzards servers... Just been booted out of my single player experience
