How's it going with M Series?.

and ditto to all the points made in the OP from craighazan. I got an 8/256 M1 Air early on and haven't looked back. Parallels saved me from having to have a pc as it ran the only windows based program that I needed (and it ran at least as well as it ran on my pc). I later bought an M2 15" Air...

Bootable M.2 NVMe SSD On GA-Z87X-UD5H

    1. BIOS update - You may mean a BIOS mod which adds NVMe boot support - is it available for your motherboard? (I got mine for Gigabyte Z77-DS3H from BIOS-mods site), if its not available you can make a request there and somebody may do the work for you. 3. Yes. If you get the BIOS mod. If the...

The Dell OptiMac Big Sur/OpenCore Thread - For 7020/9020 Optiplex Desktops

Not for Big Sur but 7,1 might be best chance of getting it working with Monterey. Are we already using the settings for the 5100 GPU and likely to need USB and and CPU and changes from the current settings but 15,1 sys defs are almost certainly not going to work on Monterey.

Apple Previews macOS 12 Monterey - Available Fall 2021

The 7,1 mac Mini that is shown as being supported runs a Haswell, I was hoping somebody might rebuild the Dell 7020's using the 7,1 System definitions.

The Dell OptiMac Big Sur/OpenCore Thread - For 7020/9020 Optiplex Desktops

Looking at the Mac models that will be able to run Monterey, it shows Mac mini Late 2014 and later Model Identifier: Macmini7,1 in the list, I think it looks the closest to the hardware for the Dell 7020, has anyone ever set one of these up and tried to use the 7,1 System definitions?

New 24" M1 iMacs come in 7 Colors / Orders starting on April 30th

I'd bet a penny on there being nothing like a pci slot (PCI4 16Gbps) on any of the new macs and instead they'll limit expansion only thru the thunderbolt ports (TB3 40Gbps) but surely they will allow for standard memory modules and internal ssd's, surely?

New 24" M1 iMacs come in 7 Colors / Orders starting on April 30th

Is there much likelihood of new mac pro's having expansion slots or will everything go thru ports? I suspect the big surprise of the new Macs will be that apart from ports and more threads they will perform very similarly to the current M1's for the majority of their users.

dont forget to check the monitor works ok, just sent back a new one with similar issues to this (using real mac) - in my case i got a single white line flash at a random point towards the bottom of the screen - Not sure if it was a fault or incompatibility as it was solved by getting another...

    Your First Computer

Punch hole Terminal at school (I've got an unclassified CSE in Computer Studies) connecting to "The" Post Office Computer, ZX80, then ZX81 with 16Kb upgrade (both stuck on a board to prevent it moving). (Upgrade taller and narrower than the image above.) The Sinclairs were such a frustration but...

New 24" M1 iMacs come in 7 Colors / Orders starting on April 30th

His comments about the differences bewteen speeds of the m1 models might be best to qualify by saying that looking at different benchmarking sites it seems there are bigger speed difference between individual M1 chips than we have seen with Intel. Cant quite remember the details but when I short...

New 24" M1 iMacs come in 7 Colors / Orders starting on April 30th

Yes the fans do make a difference, they can take heavy loads longer (although it seems the thermal pad hack for the Air really does keep it on par with the machines with fans (as long as its not on your lap)). 4 Months ago i returned the M1 MBP for the Air and I still haven't used the Air so it...

New 24" M1 iMacs come in 7 Colors / Orders starting on April 30th

I think the right choice for a lot more people than previously will be the Air. Its a laptop that costs £300 more than the mini but can act just like it - If you need a laptop and desktop the Air is one.

iMac OR Mac-Mini and £750 to spend on monitor, keyboard and mouse? Fairly sure which way a poll on here would go. But purple.

New 24" M1 iMacs come in 7 Colors / Orders starting on April 30th

This shows 22W at idle with the screen on and if we add in the 36W from the mini at full load - https://www.apple.com/environment/pdf/products/desktops/24-inch_iMac_PER_Apr2021.pdf Seems it will use less than 60W of power at full load.
